Beware of this scam, especially if you live in Williamson County.
Phone scams have been on the rise where the scammers claim the victim missed jury duty and now have an active warrant for their arrest. The scammer had some personal information which made the call sound realistic, but authorities are stressing that they would NEVER call to demand payments for warrants or fines.
They’d also never require cash to avoid arrests, charge money for you hanging up the phone, or place somebody under a “gag order” over the phone. If you receive a suspicious call, slow down- hang up and call the authorities directly to verify information.
