Just a little reminder this morning from our friends over at the Nashville Fire Department: please don’t park next to a fire hydrant.
This comes after there was a fire last week where a vehicle was blocking a hydrant and in an emergency like that, every second counts. Unfortunately 2 homes were both total losses from that fire and since a car was parked in front of the closest hydrant, firefighters weren’t able to see it and had to run a hose across a street to get water.
The fire department wants to remind residents that you have to give a fire hydrant 6 feet of separation in both directions. If you see somebody blocking a fire hydrant consistently in front of your home, go on and report them to hubNashville.
