This is fantastic news, a local nonprofit is building a new affordable senior citizen neighborhood after a great-grandma was forced to move from her old senior complex due to it being sold to a developer.
That led to her family creating AWAKE Nashville, which advocates for affordable independent senior housing. Now, the nonprofit was granted 3 million dollars from Metro’s housing trust fund to build a complex of cottage-like apartments which will each have a front porch to hang out on, as well as a community resource center and garden.
