A Tennessee Tech student is working to make a difference at a popular Middle Tennessee hiking destination.
The Geology student named Alex Brant is trying to improve the way flash flooding is measured at Cummins Falls in Cookeville. 6 years ago, 2 swimmers passed away in a flash flood there and since their deaths, sensors were installed in the park. Alex is now working on an “infiltration project” to better understand flooding events, which looks at rainwater flowing into the ground.
