I read today that the largest school district in Missouri is adopting a 4-day schedule to deal with teacher shortages. There are about 900 school districts across the country who’ve adopted a 4-day week schedule as well. And the shorter school week has me wondering what the workweek would look like if it were only 4 days. As luck would have it, I also happened upon a new survey conducted by ResumeBuilder which reveals at least 80% of office workers believe a 4-day week would improve their productivity. Other findings from the survey include:
– 94% of people say they would be ‘somewhat’ or ‘very’ enthusiastic about switching to a 4-day work week
– 36% of people in favor of switching schedules would be willing to take a pay cut for a 4-day schedule
– 82% of people say they would be ‘somewhat’ or ‘highly’ likely to switch jobs if they were offered a 4-day work week
– 96% of people in favor of a 4-day work week say it would ‘somewhat’ or ‘vastly’ improve their work-life balance
Not sure about you, but a 3-day weekend every single week has a nice ring to it. And if you could switch to a 4-day workweek, would you? Would you be willing to take a pay cut to get that extra day off every week if that was required? Are you already enjoying a 4-day work week, and how has that changed your life?
