Thousands of people weren’t the only crowds downtown this weekend.
Tens of thousands of Purple Martins are back in town for their annual pre-migration. After trying something different and roosting last year over at Nissan Stadium, they’ve decided that downtown really is the best location for them, so they’re back around the Cumberland River and Riverfront Park area.
Metro leaders want you to leave them alone.. this is just a normal stop on their trip.. they’ll be hanging with us until about the end of August, when they get back to their migration to South America for winter.
