Plot: A man is kidnapped while visiting Cairo so his wife travels there to do whatever she can to save him
Clint Says: Save some money and see a matinee
I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to be kidnapped in a foreign land, but this film does a pretty good job of conveying the fear, pain, and desperation of anyone in that situation.
While the story is highly suspenseful and compelling, the film itself is a bit below average. It looks and feels like a step above a made-for-TV movie, but a step below your typical wide-release, big-screen film. The cinematography is adequate, but there are moments where it feels very “film student” in its quality.
The acting also leaves something to be desired, but this isn’t the actors’ fault. It seems like the director didn’t convey the vision properly, so the end product isn’t as good as it would have been in the hands of a more accomplished leader.
The good news is that those issues are pretty minor to the overall experience. If you like suspenseful thrillers this film will satisfy your cravings. It isn’t anywhere near a film like ZERO DARK THIRTY or LONE SURVIVOR, but it is intense and entertaining enough to watch.
