Oh, my.
What a film.
This is one of the most exciting, riveting, suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat movies to come out in several years. I haven't gripped the arm rests this tight since I saw THE WALK in 2015. (That was the movie about the guy that did a tightrope walk between the twin towers).

For the life of me I can not figure out why this movie is not getting a ton of award nominations. This is easily one of the best films of the year. (This had a limited release in December so it is eligible for the 2019 awards season). If it were up to me this would be nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor – Michael B. Jordan, and Best Supporting Actor – Jamie Foxx.

If you are looking for a few good laughs, then who am I to try to stop you from seeing this movie? It will absolutely tickle your funny bone several times. There is no doubt that this is a comedy.
Now, if you are wanting to go see a GOOD comedy, well, this is the wrong place to look.

I'm guessing the idea pitch for this movie went something like, “it's just like ALIEN, only under water.” And someone actually bought that.
If you like action, this will be a great movie for you. They don't even bother with pesky details like setting up the story, or character development. They just dump us right into the mess and hope that we will be able to figure things out over the course of the next 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I did figure it out, and I still didn't care if they lived or died.
