Never in our lives did we think this would be something to worry about on the roads, but here we are.
What’s up with all the falling interstate signs lately? Earlier this week, the 2nd interstate sign in the last 2 months or so fell onto I-65 in the Goodlettsville area. This causes a major safety concern for drivers and TDOT is reviewing how it maintains the signs.
They believe that some bolts may have come loose due to the weather, but here’s the thing.. that sign was installed in the 80s and hasn’t been inspected for 4 years.. the last time it was inspected was 2022. While they say this isn’t a common occurrence, it’s seemingly becoming all-too-common here in Middle TN. In late January, a sign on I-65 near the I-440 split fell after a crash with a semi truck.
That sign is still sitting on the side of the highway.
