It may not need to happen, but never say never.
That’s the word from the Tennessee Valley Authority when it comes to rolling blackouts this weekend. They added some extra megawatts to their system over the last few years since our last big ice storm and they feel confident going into this one. The energy demand is going to be higher than normal with the below freezing temperatures next week so we’ll see what happens.
A voluntary conservation notice could be issued and rolling blackouts, while not planned now, could still be a possibility.
