A fish found only here in Middle TN might be added to the endangered species list.
The Barrens darter is a minnow-sized fish that is only in the Collins River, which runs through Cannon, Coffee, Grundy and Warren counties. It’s becoming endangered because the Fringed Darter fish is outcompeting it and has started taking over the Barrens darter’s habitat.
By listing it as endangered, it’ll make protecting it easier, which is important to our ecosystem.
