Imagine getting your varsity letter for this sport!
Students are Pearl-Cohn High School are now the first in the Metro Public Schools District to have an e-sports program, aka play competitive video games. About 30 students play in the e-sports arena every week and the team has already won games in some big competitions, even though this is their first year as a team.
School leaders say that this team has increased attendance and boosted grades for students involved. Starting next year, the school will even add an e-sports class, on top of the club!
