First they were, then they weren’t, now it seems like buses WILL be picking students up in Rutherford County, no matter where they live.
Earlier this week we told you about the Parent Responsibility Zones that the district voted to put into place next year, meaning that families who live within a mile to a mile and a half of the school would need to find their own transportation or have kids walk to school instead of taking a bus.
Now, the director of schools says that idea has been put on hold for a year while they address some “top of mind” issues. There’s been a lot of pushback about this and concern for student safety due to cars, crime, severe weather, wildlife, lack of sidewalks and more.
