- Blue Origin’s first all-female space crew went into space first thing Monday morning. Their 11-minute flight blasted off early Monday morning from Blue Origin’s Van Horn, Texas base. Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn travelled to space in the New Shepard (NS-31) suborbital vehicle on Monday (April 14). The takeoff occurred around 9:30 a.m. ET. You can catch the replay of the launch on Blue Origin’s website, and the company’s YouTube and X pages.
- Nashville’s Patsy Cline Museum, owned and operated by Icon Entertainment and Hospitality, will close in May after an eight-year run to make way for an expansion of the Johnny Cash Museum, Icon’s CEO Bill Miller announced. The Patsy Cline exhibit will close on May 15 while the Johnny Cash Museum’s 4,000 square foot expansion will open later this year. The upgraded museum is set to include more immersive technology and new artifacts displayed for the first time.”The mission of the Johnny Cash Museum is what brought us to Nashville so many years ago,” Miller said. “If there’s one thing we’ve been able to count on, it’s the insatiable appetite of Johnny Cash fans from around the world to see and experience his life and legacy.” The expansion represents more than $1 million in investments to the building and Johnny Cash museum. “These new exhibits will enhance what we’ve built over the years and help accommodate the ever-increasing crowds we continue to welcome,” Miller added. Icon also owns and operates the Southern Turf building in Printers Alley, which includes Sinatra Bar and Lounge, Skull’s Rainbow Room, short-term rentals Southern Turf Lofts and the member’s club Southern Turf Club. The hospitality company’s portfolio also includes Nudie’s Honky Tonk, Tanya Tucker’s Tequila Cantina and Schulman’s Neighborhood Bar in East Nashville.
- Queen guitarist Brian May popped up from the Coachella stage on Friday night to help singer Benson Boone perform “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Boone gave full Freddie Mercury vibes in sequined spandex and a regal cape with May showing up to perform his guitar solo from one of Queen’s biggest hits.May even stuck around for Boone’s closing song, “Beautiful Things”, saying in an Instagram post that the singer is a “truly golden 22 year old prodigy.”
