Dolly Parton has been telling anyone who’ll listen about all the big stars who are joining her for her upcoming rock album. Now she’s revealing a few more names of artists who’ll be singing with her and what exactly they’ll be doing.
Dolly tells USA Today that Stevie Nicks recently joined her in the studio to record a song Stevie wrote called “What Has Rock ‘n Roll Ever Done For Me,” which Dolly describes as “a cute little song.” She’s also hoping to rope in Cher and Annie Lennox to sing the Eurythmics‘ hit “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”
In addition, Dolly will be joined by Duran Duran‘s Simon LeBon on her classic “My Blue Tears.” She says, “He has that beautiful high voice and it’s an Irish-sounding love song with bagpipes … It’s a big range that Simon will be great at.”
Meanwhile, Sheryl Crow just posted on social media that she’s also on the record, noting that, “Yes, [Dolly] seriously rocks!!”
In addition, Dolly will be joined by Elton John, Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, John Fogerty, and Pink and Brandi Carlile — the latter two are singing the Rolling Stones‘ song “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
Dolly also confirms that ex-Journey singer Steve Perry will sing with her on his classic “Open Arms,” and Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler is also part of the project, singing an original song.
The album is set for release in the late fall/early spring.
