Independence Day wasn’t the only thing celebrated this past weekend.. The Nashville Hot Chicken Festival also happened!ot
– this is the 16th year of the festival and 9 hot chicken restaurants got together to raise money for Shelby Bottoms Park
Joey Chestnut did it again!
– he won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and brought down a protester all at the same time
– he didn’t set any record this time around.. but still ended up eating 63 hot dogs
– this was his 15th win
That’s a lot of hot dogs.. and they have to be cooked someway..
– this company is now brewing hard seltzer with leftover hot dog water
– the brewery in San Antonio will release the seltzer on the 16th and it’ll taste exactly like a hot dog
– they’re having a big event to celebrate the release.. even better than trying the drink, I’d go just for this.. they’re giving away souvenir glasses that say “suckin on chili dogs”
The fireworks downtown last night were a huge success
– they’re estimating between 250 and 300 thousand people were in the crowd this year
– I bet the airport will reflect that today so if you’re flying out, good luck
Due to the fuel prices rising, Nashville Electric Service are warning that your electric bills will go up for the month
– July bills will have around a 10% increase in the fuel cost adjustment charge
– be prepared for that
Jeni’s just launched a new “At The Pool” ice cream collection and they all sound delicious
– Watermelon Taffy, Golden Nectar, Bombastix Sundae Cone, Butterscotch Popcorn, and Lemon Bar are all part of the collection
– the individual flavors will roll out each week of July

There’s another new baby at the Nashville Zoo!
– they just announced a 7 week old male bontebok calf named Rhoden who’s part of their Africa Field habitat
– he was born on May 6th and is so cute!
– he basically Looks like a little deer

– Minions: The Rise of Gru brought in over 108 million dollars in ticket sales in North America
– Top Gun is still hanging on as well.. it came in 2nd at the box office, bringing in another 25 million dollars
– that’s gotta be one of the most successful sequels of all time
