This could really help keep pedestrians safe!
Nashville has reprogrammed traffic signals in the downtown area which will give pedestrians a 3 to 7 second head-start before vehicles get a green light. It’s called “Leading Pedestrian Intervals” and it’ll help pedestrians get across the road before the cars get an “okay” to go.
In the past, the green light came at the same time as pedestrian walk-signals which caused some dangerous and deadly incidents. Read more about it HERE
This won’t change anything for drivers or vehicle traffic times.
