A local 16 year old is making waves this week after developing a potentially life-saving safety tool.
Abigail Goddard is a senior at Ravenwood High School and recently developed a product that can detect if a drink was spiked. The product is a keychain called “Spikey” which has little strips in it that change color if a drink has been compromised by certain drugs. So basically you pull a strip out, place a drop of your drink on it, and it’ll change color if it’s been contaminated. She’s distributed over 14,000 test strips and is even working with Nashville’s Safe Bar program, who just ordered thousands of Spikeys to distribute.
This is a great little safety gift if you have a kid going away to college.

Abigail hopes to bring Spikey dispensers to bar bathrooms and vending machines at major events in the future.
