- South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have reached a streaming deal with Paramount worth a whopping $1.5 billion. The five-year deal will pay $300 million per year for the rights to the long-running animated series. The deal has not been formally announced, but was reported on by Variety. The premiere of Season 27 of South Park had been delayed by the tense negotiations. It’s currently set to premiere on Wednesday, July 23rd.
- The new CEO of tech company Astronomer has found a silver lining to last week’s viral ‘kiss-cam’ scandal. You know by now that the company’s previous CEO, Andy Byron, stepped down after he and HR head Kristin Cabot were caught on camera at a Coldplay concert. New CEO Pete DeJoy said in a memo released Monday that the incident, unfortunate though it was, has made the company “a household name.” He wrote “The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies — let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world — ever encounter.”
- The wait is over! Lilo & Stitch is landing at home after making a huge splash at the global box office. Disney’s hit live-action reimagining will be available on digital starting Tuesday, July 22, before debuting on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Bonus features include two deleted scenes, a blooper reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and scene commentaries from Stitch himself. Lilo & Stitch opened on Memorial Day weekend to $145 million and eventually cleared the $1 billion mark.
