- This is the kind of love we all dream of until it actually happens. A groom was so overcome with emotion on his wedding day that he fainted at the altar in front of his bride and 200 guests. “When my bride walked in looking even more stunning than usual, my body started to go weak,” Gustavo Schmitz, 25, told Jam Press about his big day on Saturday, June 7, in Salete, Brazil. Footage shows the dramatic moment Gustavo fell over backward as the pastor and guests rushed to his side. Ahead of the ceremony, he told his ushers that his body was “tingling” but they didn’t believe him because he had a reputation for “joking around. “The week leading up to it was hectic with all the preparations,” Gustavo, who works as a teacher, said in an interview. “I’ve struggled with anxiety for years – sometimes I take medication for it – and I was already breathless when things started. Despite the unplanned fainting spell, he said that the wedding ended up being “beautiful and amazing.”
- It’s officially summertime! The June solstice (aka summer solstice) occurs on Friday, June 20 at 10:42 p.m. ET. It’s called the “longest day of the year” because it’s the day with the most sunlight. How are you going to celebrate the first official day of summer? Bbq? Bonfire? Slip-slide? Escaping the heat indoors and binge-watching something? Is summer your favorite season? What is your best summer memory as a kid? What summer concert/festival are you hitting up?
- Ford Motors is contributing $150,000 toward the completion of a statue honoring Tina Turner. The funds are being given to Turner’s hometown of Brownsville, Tennessee, where the statue is being built. Brownsville Mayor William Rawls said, “This is more than a statue–it’s a story in bronze, a symbol of triumph, and a message to future generations that greatness can come from anywhere. We are deeply grateful to Ford for recognizing that significance and investing in our community.” The statue will be unveiled during Tina Turner Heritage Days in September.
