In Williamson County, the Animal Center has what they call BOOK BUDDIES, where kids5 to 12 can come practice their reading skills, by reading to the animals at the Shelter. Helps the kids, helps the animals.
Eagle Scout Ben Hamby of Troop 13 has just added to that, by building a lending library at the Animal Center. He says he wanted to help animals and kids, and that the book lending box can give children more options for books to read… even if they’re not comfortable reading to the animals just yet.
