- Struggling mall footwear chain Foot Locker is set to be acquired by Dick’s Sporting Goods for a $2.4 billion price tag. The company plans to keep Foot Locker and its brands, including Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and WSS as part of a “new global platform.” Acquiring Foot Locker will also give Dick’s Sports Goods a foothold overseas, with over 2,400 retail stores in 20 countries. The footwear and apparel industries are bracing for the effects of tariffs, with 97% of all U.S. clothing imported from Asia.
- Star Search is coming back! Netflix ordered a reboot of the popular ’80s and ’90s show that launched the careers of Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Dave Chappelle, Christina Aguilera, Adam Sandler and many others. The show will air live twice a week with a livestream that includes viewer voting that determines which contestants advance to the next round. “Each episode will spotlight the best up-and-coming performers across four categories — music, dance, variety/comedy, kids — as they compete for their shot at stardom. With an arced competition structure and weekly eliminations, the series builds dramatic momentum, making every live episode an unmissable event,” the official description reads. The host, judges and premiere date have not yet been announced. The reboot is described as a “nostalgic yet fresh entry in the talent competition space” and “draws on the rich legacy of Star Search.” Casting is underway now at StarSearchLiveCasting.com.
- Demi Lovato and her fiancé Jordan Lutes are ready to tie the knot! TMZ is reporting that the couple is set to say “I do” on Memorial Day weekend. Ceremony details are unknown at this time. Demi and Jordan first met in January 2022 while co-writing “Substance,” and then made their romance public in August 2022. She later shared in an interview at the time of their first interactions, she “instantly had a crush” on him. The couple got engaged back in December 2023. This past Valentine’s Day, Demi wrote the sweetest post to Jordon. “Jordan, I cannot WAIT to marry you!! The past 3 years have been the best 3 years of my life and I have you to thank for that.
