- Between 50 and 100 people took off with roughly $300,000 after bags of cash fell out of an armored truck in a Chicago suburb. A Brinks Home security representative claimed a truck was traveling in the Oak Park area when its “backdoor opened by unknown means.” As a result, three bags full of money fell onto the road. When the employee returned to the scene, they spotted dozens of people removing the money, before fleeing “on foot” and “in vehicles.” The Brinks representative told police that the total estimated loss was around $300,000. Speaking to NBC Chicago, a Village of Oak Park spokesperson confirmed that no one was in custody as of Friday, April 25.
- A fruity cocktail has an unwanted surprise. A woman found a snake in her margarita as she dined at a Mexican restaurant in Virginia. Carletta Andrews said she visited the Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina on April 16th when she saw the baby snake in her drink. Andrews said the snake wrapped itself around her straw. She said, “I left shaking, I was traumatized.” Restaurant workers tried to remove the snake, but couldn’t get it. Another customer removed the snake and took it outside. Andrews said the restaurant offered her a new table, but she left. The restaurant owner told the local news that the snake probably entered through an air conditioning unit.
- Wild hats, mint juleps, and the real stars, the horses, will converge on Churchill Downs in Louisville this Saturday for the 155th Kentucky Derby. Here’s the latest leading to the race: Posts for the 20 horses were drawn on Saturday, and this year’s favorite, Journalism (3-1) will start from post 8. Other horses with single-digit odds are outside the starting gate, with Sovereignty (5-1) at post 18 and Sandman (6-1) at post 17. Journalism won the Santa Anita Derby three weeks ago. The Kentucky Derby begins at 6:57pm EST sharp on NBC, the USA Network, Fubo and Peacock.
