- The ACM nominations dropped on Thursday morning, and per usual, there were plenty of “snubs and surprises.” A big surprise was Ella Langley, who received the most nominations, with 8! The singer certainly had a breakout year, and this proves it! Miranda Lambert SNUBBED (again). Although she has won more ACM Awards than anyone in history, this is the second year in a row she has been shut out of the nominations. A surprise was seeing Kelsea Ballerini’s nominated for Entertainer of the Year! You go, girl! Kelsea tends to be nominated A LOT at award shows but rarely wins. Beyoncé was SNUBBED! Even though her country album, Cowboy Carter, took home the Grammy for Best Country Album earlier this year, Queen Bey was locked out of the ACMs. Luke Combs did earn 3 nods but wasn’t nominated for Album of the Year for Fathers & Sons. Carly Pearce was also snubbed from categories she easily could’ve been in, like Female Artist of the Year. However, she did get a nomination for Musical Event of the Year for her duet “We Don’t Fight Anymore” with Chris Stapleton. See more in the link.
- On Wednesday, Will Smith had a street named after him in Philadelphia. Smith returned to his hometown for the unveiling ceremony. The 2000 block of North 59th Street in Philadelphia’s Overbrook section is now Will Smith Way. Smith said, “Nobody gets an easy ride, and that’s one of the things these streets of Philadelphia taught me: that there is nothing wrong with a hard day’s work.” He added, “I walked across this bridge for my whole high school career in snow and rain.” Smith continued, “The Will Smith Way is encompassed in the lessons I got from my father, my mother and my grandmother.”
- Green Day fans were surprised with a full concert after answering a casting call. The hundreds of fans headed to the Hollywood Palladium Tuesday after the casting call went out for a New Year’s Eve performance scene for Green Day’s upcoming flick, “New Year’s Rev.” Security and secrecy rules were tight and the attendees were treated to a full blown four hour concert!
