- Conan O’Brien received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on Sunday night. The 61-year old was celebrated by his peers including Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Stephen Colbert, Tracy Morgan, and Bill Burr. O’Brien, hinting at US politics, said during the ceremony, “First and foremost, Twain hated bullies. He punched up, not down. And he deeply, deeply empathized with the weak.” The night then ended with O’Brien, Adam Sandler and a cast of Mark Twain impersonators performed Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World”. The ceremony will air on Netflix at a later date.
- Instagram is offering middle and high schools the chance to become a part of its anti-bullying efforts. IG’s parent company, Meta, is introducing the Schools Partnership Program. The program is currently being tested at 60 schools, and results have been “promising,” according to Meta.
- Brain Flossing is a new trend and it seems to really help reduce stress. Uladzimir Seuruk, founder and CEO of the health and wellness firm Cata-Kor, explains what it’s about. “Brain flossing is a mental wellbeing phenomenon inspired by the idea of cleansing your mind, much like flossing cleans your teeth. It includes listening to 8D audio…sounds that switch between left and right ears.” What 8D audio does is make it feel like the music is traveling from one ear to the other, pulsating around your head, and creating the feeling that you’re clearing out unwanted brain gunk. Here’s what to know when giving brain flossing a try:
- For the optimal experience, use good headphones.
- Find a quiet environment. Try to eliminate all distractions.
- Start with short sessions (five to 10 minutes), extending the time as you see fit.
- Listen to a variety of tracks to find what works best for you. Some people listen to sounds in nature while others prefer songs without lyrics.
- Listen to a moderate sound so you don’t get overstimulated or become uncomfortable.
