Walking around East Nashville is about to get safer.
The Nashville Department of Transportation has plans to add a 4 foot-wide strip of grass on both side of McGavock Pike, as well as a 6 foot-wide sidewalk. They’ll also build a better bus stop and sidewalks near the McGavock Pike and Gallatin Pike intersection.
They’re hoping these changes will bring down the number of injuries of people walking and driving along this stretch of road. The planning phase should wrap up in March with construction starting in August.
