Myles Smith was a breakout star of 2024, winning a prestigious award in his native U.K. and making former president Barack Obama‘s list of favorite songs twice with “Stargazing.” But he says his biggest moment of 2024 is what led him to his New Year’s resolution for 2025.
Looking back on last year, Myles says, “I think getting to the end of my North America, Europe and U.K. tour — like, to be able to do, 60, 70, 80 dates and say that I got through … it was just such an achievement. And I think for me, a real reflection of going, wow, I actually, one, really enjoy this thing and, two, can see myself doing it for a while.”
But unfortunately, all that roadwork had a negative side effect. Asked to share his New Year’s resolution, Myles tells ABC Audio, “I need to go to the gym. I’ve gotten so chubby on tour, just eating [craft] services and way too much fried food.”
He laughs, “But it’s my first time around North America — so how could I not have a Philly cheese steak?”
Perhaps Myles’ willpower will be stronger when he kicks off his We Were Never Strangers tour Jan. 22 in Brooklyn, New York. That tour will take him to North America, the U.K. and Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Starting in May, he’ll also be opening for one of his biggest influences, Ed Sheeran, on the final leg of Ed’s Mathematics tour.
