A new policy is being put in place in Wilson County.
Schools will now cap a student’s lunch account $30 because of the growing lunch debt. At the end of August, the school was in about$9,000 of meal debt, which means by the end of the school year, that could rise to about $100,000.
School officials believe this isn’t because students can’t afford lunch, but rather, because charging is available. This $30 cap will just help limit how much a student can charge, rather than it stay unlimited.

If you’re a parent, imagine sending your kid to school WITH a lunch, only to find out that they’re “charging” for more food at school! I feel like some of that might be happening too only because I feel like that’s something I would’ve done in school, not realizing that my parents would have to pay ALL of that back at the end of the year.
