Not sure how you feel about it, but โcommon courtesyโ seems like a dying artform. More often than Iโd like to admit, find myself thinking โwell that was rude,โ but admittedly 99% of the time, itโs in the car. Speaking of โrude,โ I came across a survey of the Top 10 things that were considered โrudeโ 20 years ago, but now would be considered โpoliteโ. Some of these leave me scratching my head on how theyโve flipped over the years:
- Texting Instead of Calling
- Sending Emails for Formal Communication
- Using Speakerphones in Public
- Declining Invitations
- Bringing Your Own Food to Events
- Correcting Someoneโs Pronunciation
- Taking Photos of Your Food
- Asking About Pronouns
- Working From Cafes
- Wearing Casual Attire
Trying to figure out how working from cafรฉโs would have been considered rude, but ok. Anything missing from this list? What would you have classified as rude 20 years ago that would now fall under the โpoliteโ category? Love hearing from ya, so leave your comments below, and thanks for stopping by my little slice of the web! โ Butter
