Not sure how you feel about it, but ‘common courtesy’ seems like a dying artform. More often than I’d like to admit, find myself thinking “well that was rude,” but admittedly 99% of the time, it’s in the car. Speaking of ‘rude,’ I came across a survey of the Top 10 things that were considered ‘rude’ 20 years ago, but now would be considered ‘polite’. Some of these leave me scratching my head on how they’ve flipped over the years:
- Texting Instead of Calling
- Sending Emails for Formal Communication
- Using Speakerphones in Public
- Declining Invitations
- Bringing Your Own Food to Events
- Correcting Someone’s Pronunciation
- Taking Photos of Your Food
- Asking About Pronouns
- Working From Cafes
- Wearing Casual Attire
Trying to figure out how working from café’s would have been considered rude, but ok. Anything missing from this list? What would you have classified as rude 20 years ago that would now fall under the ‘polite’ category? Love hearing from ya, so leave your comments below, and thanks for stopping by my little slice of the web! – Butter
