Mix 92.9 had the “Dickens of a Festival” scheduled this weekend, and Saturday wound up getting blown out (literally!) by the tornado that rolled through Nashville Friday night. But Sunday was back with extended hours 10am-6pm, and a great time was had by all. The Mix street team was in force with their tent, giving away prizes and taking Christmas photos. Promo Joe from the Mix morning show was there earlier in the day, and I popped by after my on-air shift for the afternoon.
I started out at the Main Stage, bringing on the Masters’ Brass Ensemble. While watching the band play, it was brought to my attention that Randy Travis was in the audience, so after the band played, I walked over, introduced myself, and asked if I could get a photo. Randy and his handlers were very gracious, and it was a real pleasure to meet such a Nashville legend.
Our carolers went missing in action, and it turned out they forgot about the performance and were caroling somewhere down the street, so we ended the live music early, and I joined Dalton and Jeri over at the Mix 92.9 tent. We wanted to get our pictures with the Mix Christmas wreath, and Dalton suggested we nab some people in costume to come pose with us. As luck would have it, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and one of their elves were at the booth right down the way from us, so we asked them to come take a photo with us. They obliged, and before we knew it, everyone was lining up to get their photo. It worked out perfectly, because we had our Christmas songs playing the background, creating the perfect holiday atmosphere.
It was a great experience, and we hope you were able to visit the festival as well. If not, there is always next year! Check out our photos here!
