CLASSES BACK IN SESSION AT GEORGIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Teachers, staff and students are back at a Georgia elementary school today, after the man identified as 20 year old Michael Hill walked in, armed with an AK-47 assault rifle and "and a number of other weapons," and fired off six shots. He eventually surrendered to police, and no one was hurt, but you can bet there were some serious talks going on between parents and kids after those children got home.
TENNESSEE MAN SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SCHOOL THREAT
A man in Tennessee found out how seriously threatening to shoot schoolchildren is taken. Tyrone Watts of Tullahoma has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for his actions during a confrontation at his stepson's school. Watts was told he could not take his step son off campus, because the school needed permission from the custodial parent. The 43-year-old man reacted by threatening to come to school with an AK-47 assault rifle and kill everyone, then himself. He was arrested.
26-YEAR-OLD COLD CASE RAPE MAY HAVE BEEN SOLVED
Hendersonville police have charged a man with aggravated rape from an incident that happened 26 years ago! Police allege that Scott Settle, now 45, raped an 8year old girl, back when he was 19 -- in 1987 -- but never got caught. IS YOUR HOME OBESOGENIC?
Is your home making you fat? Your habits are more tied to your environment than you know, according to psychologist Jeremy Dean, who wrote a book called "Making Habits, Breaking Habits." He says if you eat enough chips on the couch, you'll automatically think you're hungry for chips when you sit on the sofa. The Dr. says you typically make about 200 food-related decisions like that a day, but are only AWARE of 20 or 30. The weight loss starts when you pay ATTENTION to what's cueing you to eat, and make healthier choices.

FOLLOW PROGRESS OF 31 POUND CAT BROUGHT IN TO METRO ANIMAL CONTROL
In case you've seen the story of the morbidly obese cat they call Buddha, who's now on a diet and exercise plan so he doesn't just drop dead. He's still doing pretty well on his plan. But don't let the TV reporters like the ones I saw recently laughing about it, make you think that's funny. They were like, "There's a fat cat who weighs 31 pounds!! He's humorous to look at, ha ha ha." But some health experts call it just plain old ANIMAL ABUSE! The cat is so overweight he can only walk a few feet, can't jump. His owner died. That's how it came to light that the cat was in such bad shape. Veterinarians say you should be able to feel your cats ribs, at least a little!
They should never be so big they can't breathe, or that they wheeze when they're trying to breathe. They're working with Buddha at the Cat Shoppe off Bransford Avenue. You can also follow his weight loss journey online www.catshoppedogstore.com or on the shelter's facebook page.
SNAIL POPS OUT OF KID'S KNEE
Anybody who's ever taken care of kids knows there's no TELLING what you're gonna see come out of some orifice: beans, buttons, splinters. But I think this little kid tops them all: four-year-old Paul fell down and cut his knee. Dad put some cream and a bandaid on it, and three weeks later, when the kid's knee still had an ooky-looking bump on it, his mom says she squeezed it and a SNAIL popped out! A SNAIL!!
The little boy was unfazed! His dad got home, said, "Hi, Paul." The little kid said hi daddy, guess what? A snail came out of my knee! They named him Turbo, after a snail in an animated movie. The snail only lived a day, but the boy saved the shell.

A zoo in central China has been closed after visitors were outraged to discover its lion was really a bushy and barking Tibetan mastiff. The dog was not the only fake at People's Park Zoo in the city of Luohe, which tried to pass off other common mammals and rodents as a leopard and snakes. The Zoo has been closed for "rectification," whatever that means. Animal rights activists have criticized Chinese zoos for their record of poor conditions and other abuses.
