ROBIN ROBERTS LEAVES GMA DURING SHOW
Robin Roberts has taken time off from "Good Morning America" earlier than she'd planned. She's undergoing treatment for an illness, and left in the middle of yesterday's broadcast, saying, "Well, a full disclosure here, I'm not feeling too well." She's getting ready for a bone marrow transplant to treat myelo-dysplastic syndrome (MDS), which was a complication from her treatment for breast cancer.
MICHAEL PHELPS ALL TIME MEDAL LEADER
U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps is now the all-time leader in Olympic medals with 19. Phelps won a silver in the 200-meter butterfly to tie the record, and then broke the record by winning gold as part of the freestyle relay team.
We're through four full days of the London Olympics and already finding it difficult to keep track of all the #NBCfail moments. Missy Franklin, 17, won gold in the 100-meter backstroke on Monday, but just six minutes before airing the race, NBC ran a promo for The Today Show, which said, "When you're 17 years old and win your first gold medal, there's nobody you'd rather share it with. We're there when Missy Franklin and her parents reunite…"
Someone Tweeted at #NBCFail, "NBC just ran a promo of what happens to Missy Franklin after she wins a gold medal.. BEFORE they showed her winning the gold medal."
BIEBER TWEETS CONGRATS TO OLYMPIC SWIMMER
17 year-old Olympic gold medal winner Missy Franklin got more than a medal to take away from the Olympics. She also got a tweet from Justin Bieber, after he heard she was a fan of his. The pop star tweeted, "heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine. now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove." Franklin tweeted back, "I just died!"
FACEBOOK SAYS EVERYONE WILL BE ON TIMELINE BY YEAR'S END
Like it or not, Facebook users have to switch their account to the Timeline format by the end of the year. Facebook has been slowly migrating user accounts to the Timeline, which lays out status updates, check-ins, photos and significant life events in chronological order. Some users have complained about the style and are still sticking to the old wall format. Facebook says every account that will be changed will get a warning seven days before it happens, so a user can personally prepare their own Timeline. The company tells the website "techcrunch" the goal is to create a consistent experience for all users.
WHY ARE THOSE ANTS COMING INTO YOUR HOUSE?
If you're having an ant problem, especially if you hadn't had one before… here's why… it's the drought. They're looking for water. At least one local pest control company says its business is up 30% because of calls about ants. They follow plumbing pipes or electrical wires and get into your home. Experts say instead of just spraying everywhere, find the path they're using and spray or put bait there, for the ants to take back to the nest.

If you were at any store yesterday or last night, you probably noticed lots of chool supplies being rung up at the cash registers. Many parents had to go ahead and buy the things on the required school supplies list, even though tax free weekend doesn't start till Friday.
METRO SCHOOL ZONES ACTIVE AGAIN
Be careful near schools today, there'll be excited children running around everywhere, not looking out for traffic. Metro Schools, as well as those in Dickson County, Maury, and Wilson counties are back in session today.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOT CLINICS BACK OPEN
Metro Health Department's back-to-school-clinics are open again for immunizations. They'd closed down Monday after running out of vaccine. Kids in Davidson county, in grades K-through-12, can get the required immunizations free. (At East Health Center, Woodbine Health Center and Lentz Health Center.)
ANOTHER LAYER OF HEALTHCARE LAW KICKS IN THIS WEEK
Another layer of the healthcare reform law goes into effect this week. The new provisions cover preventive care services for women, including yearly breast exams, contraception and prenatal care. Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said being a woman is "no longer a pre-existing condition."
SR 840 OPENING DATE SET, BIKE RIDE FIRST TO CELEBRATE
State Route 840 is finally about to open. The official completion date has been announced for November 2nd, but FIRST, there'll be a cycling event on October 13th for bicyclists to have a nice, car-free, pothole-free ride down 840. The project had been in the works since the 1980s and recently had been on hold for seven years because of environmental and historical concerns.
GAYLORD LAYS OFF WORKERS
Over 300 Gaylord employees are being laid off, though 40% of those will be given options to do other jobs at the company. Marriott took over operations of Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort earlier this year.
TESTING SIMULATES SUBWAY ATTACK
Scientists this week are simulating a biological or chemical attack on the Boston and Washington, DC subway systems. They're collecting information to see what we're doing right, and what we need to improve to keep people safe in case of a real attack.
POSTAL SERVICE CAN'T MAKE PAYMENT DUE TODAY
The U.S. Postal Service says it's just NOT going to be able to make a massive payment, due today to the federal treasury, to cover healthcare costs for future retirees. USPS still delivers 40% of the world's mail, but is facing financial losses of up to $18.2 billion a year by 2015.
POSTAGE STAMP WILL HONOR LADY BIRD JOHNSON
In the meantime, the Postal Service says it's rolling out a new commemorative "forever" stamp to honor Lady Bird Johnson (who helped get the 1965 Highway Beautification Act passed). One report claims there's a lot of wasted money printing new stamps. In 2008, the Postal Service spent 78 million dollars to print 37 billion stamps, and in that same year, destroyed 2.8 billion dollars worth of stamps that had never been used.
SNOOP DOGG CHANGES NAME
Just so you'll know what to call Snoop Dogg in case you run into him.... it's not Snoop Dogg any more. The rapper says he's been reborn, and was re-christened by a Rastafarian Priest in Jamaica...and his NEW name is now, Snoop Lion.
RENOWNED NOVELIST GORE VIDAL DIES
Novelist Gore Vidal has passed away from complications from pneumonia. The author wrote 25 novels, including best sellers including, "Burr" and "Lincoln." He was 86 years old.
PETER FRAMPTON INJURED IN CAR ACCIDENT
Peter Frampton's tour is getting off to a rough start. The rocker was hit by a woman he says was texting and driving. He claims he's hurt his back. Frampton Tweeted, "can u say whiplash? People put the phones down!"
SALLY RIDE BIO HITS SHELVES NEXT YEAR
The life of America's first female in space will be chronicled in a biography due out next year by former ABC News correspondent Lynn Sherr. Sherr promises the book about Sally Ride will detail her journey from a would-be tennis pro to becoming a two-time space shuttle astronaut who worked to inspire young women to study math and science. Friends, family and fellow crew members will help tell Ride's story, and so will Tam O'Shaughnessy, Ride's partner of 27 years. Sally Ride died last week of pancreatic cancer at the age of 61.
