A man in Gallatin has been attempting to lure small children to his van and police want your help in catching him. It’s happened twice in the past week near the Stoneridge Apartments. The suspect is described as a young or middle aged Hispanic male driving a white full-size van. He has short hair, is about 5 foot 7 and about 160 pounds. Pastor David Foster, of The Gathering Church in Franklin and formerly of Bellevue Community Church, has died. The 58-year-old died in his sleep on Monday. He had not been ill. Foster founded The Gathering, which meets in the Carmike Cinemas in Franklin, in 2007. The memorial service is today at Brentwood Baptist Church
Tractor trailers were tossed about like toys while homes are being damaged by tornadoes ripping across the Dallas, Texas area today. Several injuries have been reported and there has been widespread damage. Searches continue tonight for people who might be trapped under debris and injured. So far no deaths have been reported
Mitt Romney has all but denied his GOP presidential challengers any chance of winning the Republican nomination. Romney is claiming a sweep of three primaries held today in Maryland, Wisconsin and Washington, DC. The victories put Romney well past the halfway mark toward the 1,144 delegates needed to nail down the nomination and become President Obama's challenger in November. Rick Santorum finished second in each of yesterdays primaries.
People in the northern U.S. appear to be hitting the bottle harder than those in the South. A new ranking of the healthiest counties by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation shows the northern states have higher rates of "excessive drinking" than other regions of the nation. Meanwhile, states in the South have higher rates of STDs, teenage births and kids living in poverty.
A Tennessee high school baseball standout has committed suicide. 19-year-old Stephen Gant was a star pitcher at Riverside High School in Decaturville, about two hours southwest of Nashville. Gant was projected to be a first round pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft but planned to instead attend Vanderbilt.
A recent health study ranked Williamson County as the healthiest county in the state of Tennessee. This was from a study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin. Sumner and Rutherford counties also topped the list for healthy counties. Davidson County ranked 14th.
President Obama doesn't believe the highest court in the land will overturn his landmark healthcare reform law. Obama says it would be "judicial activism" to overturn what he calls "a duly constituted and passed law." Republicans wasted no time criticizing the remark with Senator Mitch McConnell saying the president is trying to intimidate the Supreme Court.
The Miss Universe Organization is reversing its decision to disqualify a transgender contestant. The organization now says it will allow 23-year-old Miss Universe Canada contestant Jenna Talackova to compete. It came under fire last week after announcing Talackova was out of the running because she's transgender.
Actress Kate Winslet says there's one thing about the movie "Titanic" that she can't stand even though the film made her a star. She recently told MTV News she feels like throwing up every time she hears Celine Dion's chart-topping theme, "My Heart Will Go On." Winslet says every once in a while someone will try to get her to sing the song as if she had performed it herself in the first place.
The Metro City Council is one step closer to offering a big tax break to Dolly Parton’s new theme park coming to Music City. At yesterdays meeting, Council Members discussed offering the proposed water and snow park a 60% break on property taxes which could add up to $5 million over 12 years.
Goodlettsville based Dollar General has opened its 10,000th store. Dollar General now own and operate more retail locations than any other retailer in America. Dollar General plans to open 625 stores this year alone, creating 6,000 new jobs.
The son of Beatles legend Paul McCartney is hoping to get the band back together for a new generation. James McCartney tells the U.K. newspaper "The Telegraph" he'd like to collaborate with the sons of his dad's former band members to create what would be called "The Beatles -- The Next Generation."
An 80-year-old woman with little flying experience knew her husband had died after he fell unconscious at the controls of a small plane, yet she remained calm as she landed the aircraft at Wisconsin airport. Helen Collins’ son is a pilot and had helped his mother via radio as the twin-engine plane began running out of gas, while another pilot flew nearby to help guide her as she landed the plane safely.
Five Albuquerque Station Eight firefighters who won a $10,000 share of the Mega Millions jackpot last week have decided instead of keeping it all for themselves, they will donate an unspecified part of their winnings to fellow fireman Vince Cordova, who is suffering from a life-threatening tumor. While the $10,000 is only a small portion of Cordova's total medical bills, his fellow firemen hope that their donation will help raise awareness and encourage others to donate.
