FLU SHOWS UP EARLY IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The flu is showing up early this year... we've already had several cases of influenza here in Middle Tennessee, and doctors say this year's vaccine seems to be exactly what was needed, and it'll be effective. It's available now at the health department and your doctor PROBABLY has it, though you should call first. And remember, people o60 and older need to get the PNEUMONIA vaccine. Yes, there's a vaccine for that, and it may save your life. You can find out more about how to keep healthy and what type of flu vaccine you should get, on the Shots Etc. Cold and Flu Guide on the front page of www.mix929.com or at www.CDC.gov/Flu.

IF YOU HEAR YOUR KIDS TALKING ABOUT SKITTLES… PAY ATTENTION!
Officials in Middle Tennessee say if you hear your kid talking about Skittles, it may not be candy, and you need to pay attention! The number of so-called "Skittles Parties" is still going up, which means parents are not being vigilant enough, or just not admitting that their kid might be doing this. The kids raid their parents or caregivers' medicine cabinets, take the pills to a party, and they all throw the pills in a big bowl and just grab a handful and swallow them. Kids think they're just getting high but some have died. Police say the best thing you, as a parent, can do is be realistic and face the fact that it may be your kid or his friends getting access to your drugs. They say you need to cut off the supply, by locking up your prescriptions, and dispose of anything you're not taking. That goes for your child's grandparents' homes, too.  They go into that bathroom, and first thing they've got the medicine cabinet open.

DWTS THIS WEEK
Spoiler Alert! Here's your Dancing with the Stars update: Football player Keyshawn Johnson went home last night. He was stiff and clumsy and nearly dropped his partner at the end of his final dance. Bill Nye the Science Guy fell during his dance, but he's still a crowd favorite: his fans wear lab coats and pocket protectors. The best dances of the night came from "High School Musical" Star Corbin Bleu and "Glee" star Amber Riley. And the moment that reminded us all that these celebrities are, after all, just human beings, challenging themselves, was when Valerie Harper fell during practice, her partner Tristan McManus told her she should rest her strained knee and she said no.
