MAN CAUGHT TAKING PICS OF 10 YEAR OLD IN NASHVILLE MALL BATHROOM
A German tourist has been arrested for taking photographs of a 10-year-old boy as the child used a public restroom Sunday... near the food court at Opry Mills Mall. The boy's father says he saw a hand, holding a cell phone, reaching over his son's stall to take photos, so he confronted 21-year-old Gerrit Greiert, took the phone and "detained him" till police got there. Greiert admitted to police that other photos on his phone ... were of a child in a bathroom in Mississippi. (He's been arrested. (Charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. Jailed on 100,000 dollar bond.)
150 PIMPS ARRESTED, 105 CHILDREN RESCUED FROM PROSTITUTION
Authorities say they’ve rescued 105 children who had been forced into prostitution, and arrested 150 pimps in a three day crime sweep in 76 American cities. The victims are mostly girls, from 13 to 17, with the largest number of kids rescued in San Francisco, Detroit, Milwaukee, Denver and New Orleans. (The Justice Department estimates that nearly 450,000 children run away from home each year and that one-third of teens living on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home.
Some lawmakers are also trying to get the law changed that would make any girl found in the custody of a pimp, be considered a victim of child abuse and, as such, in need of rescue, and charges filed against the pimp.
SAN DIEGO MAYOR WANTS CITY TO PAY HIS LEGAL FEES
The Mayor of San Diego, Bob Filner, is accused, by seven women, including his former communications director, of numerous counts of sexual harassment. He's admitted it, says he needs help, and that he'll go into behavior counseling next month. But for now, Filner, who is 70, is asking taxpayers, to pay his legal expenses, and says he will NOT step down as Mayor. (Most of his city council members have asked him to.)
NEW ALLEGATIONS AGAINST APPLE FOR VIOLATING CHINESE LABOR LAWS
The company that makes your iPhone is under fire again over workers' rights in China. The human rights group, China Labor Watch (CLW), says Apple violated work laws, forced excessive overtime, and that many workers are teens, forced to stand as long as 11 hours straight, and sleep, 12 people to a cramped dorm, with only very basic facilities. Apple replied, "Their latest report contains claims that are new to us and we will investigate them immediately."
WILLIAMSON COUNTY TOP IN TENNESSEE FOR TCAP SCORES
Williamson County Schools did the best in the state again this year in the Tennessee Comprehension Assessment Program, or TCAP. Williamson county kids ranked number one in all subjects, and graduation rates there are up to 92%. (The TCAP program is a set of statewide assessments given in Tennessee to measure students' skills and progress. Students in grades 3-8 take the Achievement Test, and high school students take End of Course exams for various subjects.)

HEALTHCARE COSTS RISING AT SLOWEST RATE IN 50 YEARS
The White House is reporting personal healthcare costs are going up at the slowest rate in 50 years.. just 1 percent. The announcement comes as Obama begins his push for uninsured Americans to buy health insurance through state exchanges starting in October. The White House says Hospital readmission rates for Medicare patients are down more than one-percent since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law in 2010
LOCAL MAN UPSET OVER SPEEDING TICKET RAMS METRO POLICE CAR
A Nashville man is in jail for RAMMING a police car, head-on, because he was angry the officer had just given him a speeding ticket. Ben-Ibn Johnson is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
HEALTH: CANCER SCREENINGS RECOMMENDED
A government task force is advising annual lung cancer screenings for heavy smokers who are at least 55 years old. That would mean Medicare and many health insurance companies would have to start providing the screening for free. ( It would also mean the cancer would get caught earlier, could cost less to treat, and lives could be saved.
LORETTA LYNN'S DAUGHTER
Loretta Lynn's oldest daughter passed away yesterday in Waverly, Tennessee from complications of emphysema. Betty Sue Lynn was 64.
TN. AGAIN TOPS IN AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING STRENGTH
For the fourth straight year, Tennessee is ranked number one in the country for automotive manufacturing strength. With plants such as General Motors, Nissan and Volkswagen … and plants for their suppliers… there were nearly 7000 new jobs this past year, at 900 automotive plants, statewide. (There's a fine line between automotive strength and manufacturing dependency… that can devastate an economy when the market for that product falls.)
EXPLOSIONS AT PROPANE PLANT IN FLORIDA
Seven people are recovering in the hospital after a fire and multiple explosions at a propane plant in central Florida. There were no fatalities and everybody's been accounted for. No word yet on what started the fire.

Miley Cyrus' controversial "We Can't Stop" video has broken another record on the music video streaming site Vevo. We Can't Stop hit 100-million views ... in just 37 days... faster to hit that mark than any other video ever.
JACKIE CHAN DIES?
Did you hear over the weekend that Jackie Chan died? Yeah, a lot of people did. It was a hoax! Apparently you're not anybody in Hollywood until you'be been killed off online a couple of times. Chan's comment about it, Hello... I'm alive. First, everybody called to congratulate me on my rumored engagement. Afterward, everybody called me to see if I was alive.” Chan said, "however, thank you all for your concern. Kiss kiss and love you all!"
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR VANDALIZING NATIONAL MONUMENTS
It's not the typical person you'd see vandalizing something: In Washington, DC police have arrested a 58-year-old woman for splashing green paint on the walls of the National Cathedral. Last week someone vandalized the Lincoln Memorial... also using green paint.
COUPLE HAS WEDDING AT MCDONALD'S
If you fall in love at McDonald's guess it's only fitting that you get married there! Steven and Emily say they fell in love over a string of dates where they'd meet first, at Mickey Ds, so they tied the knot under the Golden Arches. And before you laugh, while most weddings cost thousands and thousands of dollars, they fed all their 33 guests with 230 bucks.
LONDON LIST OF WEIRD FIREFIGHTER RESCUES
Every year London Firefighters put out a list of their more unusual rescues... like people who get stuck in things around the house. This year: the rescue list included 500 people with rings stuck on their fingers, several with "body parts" stuck in appliances, 18 children with their heads stuck in toilets, and 79 people who couldn't get out of handcuffs... just since 2010. They think that one's related to people reading the book "50 Shades of Grey."
The first direct peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians in nearly three years got underway last night in Washington, DC. They'll wrap up today and set a date for more talks.
