JUNE HOTTEST EVER
June was the earth's hottest month since we've been keeping records -134 years- according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). 
May had already been reported as the hottest May on record. So far, compared to the top five warmest years on record, 2014 ranks third, and could end up higher than that.

HERBALIFE INVESTIGATION
Today's the day billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman promises to wipe out Herbalife. Ackman has spent 50-million dollars of investors' money to prove that the Herbalife supplements company is a pyramid scheme, and says today he'll be releasing the results of an undercover investigation into the company... 

FLOODING CLOSES JAMES UNION BUILDING AT MTSU 
Part of the MTSU Campus is flooded and closed. The James Union Building on campus had about five feet of water on the first floor ... caused by rain and a broken water main. Crews are trying to assess the damage and get the building back open.

NES USING CANNON TO SCARE AWAY PIGEONS
And you have got to remember this later tonight, or it'll scare the poo poo of you, when suddenly, you're near downtown and you hear a gigantic BOOM. Or possibly several of them. Nashville Electric Service says it's going to be firing a cannon near the central substation on First Avenue to scare away the flocks of pigeons. They have to do it late so it disrupts the birds' sleeping patterns. You'll hear it three times a night between 7 and 9 for the next few weeks. 

NEW MAP SAYS TENNESSEE IN TOP 16 FOR EARTHQUAKE THREAT
There's a new earthquake map out, that puts Tennessee as one of the top 16 states most likely to experience a quake strong enough for some serious damage. The new U.S. Geological Survey shows most of the states with serious earthquake potential are on the west coast, but Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and Hawaii are also right up there.

NASHVILLE AIRPORT SETS NEW PASSENGER RECORD
All the expansion and work at the Nashville International Airport is paying off: the airport has had a record year, with ten point six million people traveling through the airport in the past 12 months. (Doesn't it seem like they're ALL in front of YOU when you're running late and trying to rush through security to get to your gate?)

BOY WITH LEUKEMIA GETS HIS WISH GRANTED TO MAKE MOVIE

A little 5-year-old boy with Leukemia is starring in his own Godzilla movie. It's his Make-a-Wish. Maddex stars as "Madzilla," and destroyes a tiny replica of Chicago, complete with extras who run from him, screaming. His parents say Maddex is thrilled, and seeing it onscreen, they've seen the old happy child they remember, before the cancer. We'll put the link on our mix facebook page so you can see the story and then watch the trailer when it comes out. Cutest thing ever.

BOBCAT  ROAMING COOL SPRINGS AREA
And in an upscale neighborhood in Cool Springs, The Enclave, residents have been warned to be on the lookout, and keep an eye on their small pets, because there's a predator around: a bobcat. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says if you see a bobcat you're suppsoed to keep your distance, make loud noises and back away slowly and deliberately. Then call Metro Animal Control.

OBAMA EXPANDS PROTECTIONS
More than 20 thousand private companies do business with the federal government, and as of today, they get new guaranteed rights. President Obama has signed a new executive order saying federal contractors can not discriminate in hiring, based on gender identity or sexual orientation. 

SELFIE HELPS NAB SHOPLIFTER
Note to self: if you're taking a selfie, make sure you're not wearing a stolen outfit. An Illinois woman just got arrested for shoplifting and police say the evidence was easy to find, she had changed her facebook photo to one of her wearing a dress she'd just shoplifted.
You KNOW that cops can see Facebook, right? It's not invisible to police. 

SIMPSONS FAN SETS CARTOON CHARACTER TATTOO RECORD
Apparently you should let your kids watch whatever they want. A guy in New Zealand says he was banned from watching the Simpsons when he was a kid, and when he got old enough to watch it, he went a little bit overboard. the 27-year-old now not only watches every single show, repeatedly, but he's obsesses with Homer. In fact Lee Weir just set a world record for having the most tattoos of the same character: 41 Homers, all over his body.
Guinness confirms that his tattoos depict Homer in various states, including "Homer as a jack-in-the box, the Grim Reaper, in an elephant suit, as the Hulk, and even Homer as a donut."
