GOOD SAMARITAN LAW INTO EFFECT TODAY
Tennessee is in the top five states in the NATION for child deaths in hot cars... but NOW you can at least LEGALLY do something about it. A new law lets you call 9-1-1, then LEGALLY break out the car window if you see a child in a locked car, unattended, and in trouble. It's called the Good Samaritan Law.

73-YEAR-OLD VIETNAM VET FIRED FOR GIVING AWAY FOOD, COFFEE 
And this good Samaritan got into trouble for this efforts. A 73 year old Vietnam Veteran just lost his job as a host at Cracker Barrel for repeatedly breaking the reules. He admits he drank some soda on the job, gave a woman a free cup of coffee after her table was cleared, and gave a needy man a free cornbread muffin. His bosses say that was the last straw. Joe Koblenzer says he understands: they have rules, he broke them, they fired him. He says helping people was worth it, and that he'd do it again.

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES STARTS INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS
They're cheap, and now, they can take you farther: Southwest Airlines is starting some international flights. The first one flies today, from the Baltimore/Washington airport to Aruba. 

HEALTH: WOMEN DON'T NEED ROUTINE PELVIC EXAMS
This is sure to be controversial: The American College of Physicians says there's no need for healthy women who are not pregnant to get routine pelvic exams, because it causes some women discomfort, anxiety and pain. A group of specialists disagrees, and says it's better to be safe, than sorry. You should check with your doctor first, though, and make your own decision.

U.S. SOCCER TEAM PLAYS TODAY
Heads-up! There'll be a lot of people today who you'd better talk to before "the soccer game" starts, because you're not gonna get anything from 'em after that. The U.S. men's soccer team plays Belgium at 3 central time this afternoon.  Waffle House is asking its customers to boycott the Belgian Waffle today to show support for the U.S. team.

U.S. SENDS ANOTHER 300 TROOPS TO IRAQ
The U.S. is sending another 300 troops, as well as helicopters and drone aircraft to Iraq. This is after 200 got there on Sunday to help reinforce security at the airport and the U.S. Embassy.

BETTER HOPE WE DON'T GET IN A SERIOUS WAR
The pentagon says if every one of the 34 million Americans between 17 and 24 tried to join the military, only a third would make the cut. Most are too overweight, uneducated, felons or on drugs. The biggest disqualification is obesity.

9-YEAR-OLD GIRL REPORTS POT-GROWING PARENTS TO POLICE
Here's our HERO of the day, although "doing the right thing" is probably making life rough for this little girl. A 9-year-old Minnesota girl walked into the police station and said she was worried because her parents' pot smoke was making her sick, and she was afraid it would make her dogs sick, too. Police agreed. The parents were arrested and their pot-growing operation under the house confiscated. The little girl is staying with her grandparents right now. 

ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. RELEASES STATEMENT AFTER SON'S DRUG ARREST
Robert Downey, Jr. has released a statement after his son Indio's drug-related arrest this past weekend for cocaine posession.
Downey said, "Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. We're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being."

NEW FOOD FLAVORS IN STORES
You know what's coming to stores soon? Nacho Cheese Flavored Taco Shells. They were a hit at the fast food restaurant, and General Mills thinks you'll want to take some home.
And Carvel says it's coming out with a Nutella flavored Ice Cream. 

ED SHEERAN ON WHY HE WON'T TRASH HOTEL ROOMS: TAYLOR SWIFT 
Singer Ed Sheeran is a class act. He says he learned a lot while on tour with Taylor Swift, like, "Rudeness is out!" Sheeran says he will NOT trash hotel rooms, as some younger artists do for fun. In fact, after a Grammy party earlier this year, he and his friends grabbed everything in the hotel room that wasn't tied down, and put it in the bathtub. But then Ed says he felt so bad about it, that he 'de-trashed' the room, pulling everything back out and putting it back where it was. 

DOG THROWS UP WEDDING RING MISSING FOR FIVE YEARS 
You know when you say you've looked EVERYWHERE and you can't find something you've lost. Well, maybe you really HAVEN'T.
In Wisconsin, a lady lost her wedding ring five years ago. The dog just barfed and she found it. The lady says her food burglar dog probably had the ring stuck in there, somewhere, but the popsicle stick he ate for dinner the night before may have dislodged it. He's fine, and still stealing anything off the table he can get away with.

37-year-old Joe Manganiello - star of True Blood and Magic Mike- has been chosen by People Magazine as  the Sexiest Bachelor in America.

CELEB TIDBITS
It was nice that they honored Lionel Richie at the BET awards Sunday night. Would have been nicer if they'd spelled his name right on the bigscreen behind the announcer.

MY LIFE WITH BRADLEY COOPER
A New Jersey woman is CRAZY about actor Bradley Cooper. They were in a play together at Villanova University. So now, she has a blog called Mylifewithbradleycooper.com and lives her entire life, with a lifesized cardboard cutout of Cooper nearby. She posts photos all the time. says her husband is very understanding. 

COMMUNITY GETS PICKED UP FOR SEASON 6 BY YAHOO
The TV show Community has been picked up for a sixth season, but not on TV. OnLINE. To Yahoo. Star Joel McHale says, "We can swear now!"
