DAVIDSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY ON LEAVE FOLLOWING "MISCOMMUNICATION"
A Davison County sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave after a courtroom incident with a judge. Officials say sheriff's department supervisor Corley Pearson was in Metro court Friday when he and the judge "exchanged words," and that when the judge told Pearson to surrender his weapon, there was a miscommunication and the situation got so tense that court officers put their hands on Pearson and another law officer in the courtroom drew her service weapon.
TONIGHT'S PRESIDENTIAL STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS: A VIEWER'S GUIDE
President Obama gives his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress tonight, speaking on the economy, how to create jobs and grow the middle class. The President is also expected to repeat calls for gun safety measures and immigration reform. The speech starts just after 8:00 local time.
WHERE TO SEE THE STATE OF THE UNION ON TV AND INTERNET
When is the speech, and how can I watch it? Obama is scheduled to start his walk to the podium at 9 pm Eastern time. All the major networks and cable news channels will broadcast the speech, and there are ample opportunities to watch it online (Mashable has a good list of sites . If you want to watch (online or on TV) without any media filter, C-SPAN www.c-spanvideo.org is probably your best bet. YouTube, Hulu, and CNN are live-streaming the speech, and CBS News is streaming it on Ustream www.ustream.tv/cbsnews. If you want more of a curated, partisan viewing experience, both the White House www.whitehouse.gov/state-of-the-union-2013 and House Republicans www.gop.gov/SOTU are promising "enhanced" webstreams of the speech.
MAN CAUGHT GRABBING WOMEN IN WEST NASHVILLE
Metro police arrested a man they believed is the one who's been grabbing female joggers in the west Nashville area. 21 year-old Eric Wheeler was arrested, and implicated himself in at least two attacks. He's charged with two counts of assault and is suspected of two other cases last year. The two latest victims say he attacked them, and when they pulled away he just laughed or smirked, got into his car and drove away. VANDERBILT INVESTIGATING ALLEGED HAZING
Vanderbilt University is investigating reports of hazing at the school. They've received complaints on their hotline, but won't say exactly what the hazing was. School officials say they're not going to let anyone join any fraternity until they're sure the initiations are safe and appropriate.
MARDI GRAS UNDERWAY
Mardi Gras is officially underway in New Orleans. A million people are expected to take to the streets for the parades, costumes and parties celebrating "Fat Tuesday." It's the traditional last fling before the start of lent. Ash Wednesday, tomorrow, starts a 40-day period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline leading up to Easter.
MAN ACCUSED OF VANDALIZING MOSQUE ARRESTED: COMMUNITY SHOWS SUPPORT FOR MOSQUE
An act of vandalism at a Nashville mosque results in an outpouring of support from the community.
The regular Monday evening prayer service at the Al-Farooq mosque featured a big crowd of people from other mosques, neighbors and community leaders. Mosque leaders said the community support is proof something good can come from the evil act.
"Your presence here is a good answer to this event," said Dr. Mohamed Badawi. "This event has done nothing but bring us all together.
Metro police have arrested 27-year-old Kyler Wilson in connection to the vandalism. Police said Monday at 3:30 a.m., Wilson broke into the mosque, shattered windows, knocked over furniture, and broke the windshields of two vehicles parked outside. Wilsom claims he doesn't remember a thing because he was drunk. Wilson was found sleeping in a vehicle on Second Avenue, still just wearing his boxer shorts.
NORTH KOREA CONDUCTS ANOTHER NUCLEAR TEST
North Korea conducted its third nuclear test yesterday in defiance of U.N. resolutions. Other countries around the world are condemning the move, including its only major ally, China. The reclusive North said the test was an act of self-defense against "United States agression." The other countries say it's threatening world peace, and the United Nations Security Council will meet later today to address the action.

EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION ON DISPLAY AT STATE MUSEUM
The Emancipation Proclamation is still on display at the Tennessee State Museum, but only through next Monday, which is Presidents' Day. After that, a facsimile of the document will go up, as part of the "Discovering the Civil War" exhibit from the National Archives in Washington, D.C. If you want to see the real Proclamation while it's here, though, you'd better check with the museum first: there's so much demand that the reserved viewing times are gone and there are only a few walk-in times left. And in case you didn't realize it, admission to the State Museum is always free.
"AMERICAN IDOL" WAS WELL-REPRESENTED AT GRAMMYS
You may not have noticed, but there were a LOT of "American Idol" tie-ins on the Grammys this weekend: of course there was season one winner Kelly Clarkson, who accepted her award from current Idol Judge Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood won, and remember Soul Patrol? Taylor Hicks ... who a lot of people forgot about... won a Grammy... for his participation in Jimmy Fallon's comedy CD that won.
WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW THIS WEEK
The Westminster Kennel Club dog show is this week. Best of show will be named tonight. Some of the valuable dogs are really being pampered. The hotel where most of the contestants stay is offering VIP (Very Important Pooch) services, including a doggie spa, doggie treadmills, and one dog that the owner says likes to be sung to, by an opera singer. So the dog was dressed in a tiny tuxedo and top hat and was sung to in the hotel lobby.
