OBAMA VISITS MUDSLIDE SITE
President Obama visits the state of Washington today, to see the site of the mudslide that killed more than 40 people, and to meet with victims' families. The slide a month ago, buried about three dozen homes near the tiny town of Oso [[ OH-so ]], northeast of Seattle.
More than 36 thousand people took part in Monday's running of the Boston Marathon. A Massachusetts State Police official says the marathon represented the culmination of months of security planning while maintaining a friendly atmosphere.

Today is Earth Day. We're supposed to find ways to be kind to the earth. Plant a tree, hug a tree, pick up litter, don't litter in the first place, every little bit helps.

In honor of this year's Earth Day NASA is hosting a WORLDWIDE event, called #GlobalSelfie. You're asked to step outside, take a selfie, maybe where you can see some landmark or even just your place of business in the background, and post it on your social media page with the hashtag #GlobalSelfie. NASA will put together a world mosaic map, using those little photos. Should be very cool. There's a page at the link above that you can print out and put where you are on this earth, and just hold up that page in your photo.
EPA BLASTED FOR NOT BEING EARTH-FRIENDLY
And it wouldn't be a normal day without a little controversy. An environmental group is blasting the Environmental Protection Agency for sending its chief on a week-long Earth Day-themed tour pushing climate change awareness. The environmental group says that's not an effective way to encourage people to be more earth friendly, by creating more greenhouse gases and pollution.... with a tour by plane.
NASHVILLE MOM ARRESTED FOR INTOXICATION WITH KIDS IN CAR
A 26-year-old Nashville mom is facing multiple charges, including child neglect, after she was found, intoxicated, and sleeping in her car, with her two children- ages 7 and 9, inside, trying to keep warm. Andrea Sweeney told police she'd been drinking all day. Her uncle says she's a single mom and just lost her job last week. Police say Sweeney has a criminal history of criminal trespassing, aggravated assault, driving with a suspended license and public intoxication.
FEDS APPROVE, DISAPPROVE, POWDERED ALCOHOL PRODUCT
Remember that powdered alcohol I told you about, yesterday? Well Federal Regulators have done a turnaround on that one. The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau reversed its approval on the powdered booze that could be mixed with liquid or sprinkled on food, saying it made the approval in error.
BGA INTERIM HEADMASTER RANDY TUCKER KILLED IN CRASH
Randy Tucker, the interim head of school at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, was killed Monday morning in a crash outside Chattanooga, when his car hit a guardrail and flipped several times. An assembly will be held today for students.

By the time the waiter gets the water to the table, most people know whether they wanna go on with the rest of the meal. 2 STUDENTS, DRIVER INJURED IN HICKMAN COUNTY SCHOOL BUS CRASH
Two middle school students and their school bus driver were hurt in a crash yesterday afternoon in Hickman County, in Williamsport, about 55 miles southwest of Nashville. The driver lost control of the school bus, hit a fence and a culvert, went airborn and then struck a tree. One of the students was listed in critical condition last night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, the other in stable condition, and the THP says the bus driver will be charged. Six other students on the bus were not hurt.
RUTHERFORD WOMAN STEALS 20 CO0NTAINERS OF GAIN
Police in Rutherford County are looking for a 59 year old woman who walked into the Walmart, loaded up 20 large containers of Gain Detergent, and walked out with 'em. She left in a white Infinity. Apparently Walmart workers KNOW who she is, because she's been banned from store property and have her driver's license number on file.
FATHER AND SON USE SIX-PACK TO STOP DOG ATTACK
The news has gone to the dogs, and the cats. In Australia, a man and his son saved a woman who was being attacked by a pit bull terrier ... by throwing their six pack of beer at the dog.
PURINA TO OPEN FIRST AMERICAN CAT CAFE IN NEW YORK
And in New York City, Purina is opening America's first CAT CAFE. You go in for some coffee or tea, and among the other guests, are cats from the local animal shelter... who need to be adopted. Pick up the check and pick out a kitty.

AT&T CONSIDERS NASHVILLE FOR GIGAPOWER SERVICE:HIGH-SPEED FIBER NETWORK
Nashville is one of the cities being considered for AT&T's high-speed fiber network. Company officials say the U-Verse with GigaPower is about 100 times faster than what consumers typically get with broadband. Service is already available in Austin, Texas. A total of 21 major metros are being looked at for the expansion.
WIFE ARRESTED FOR TRYING TO RUN OVER HUSBAND AFTER CHURCH SERVICE
A Ft. Campbell woman was arrested Easter Sunday in Clarksville after allegedly trying to run over her husband in a church parking lot because he disapproved of her driving skills. It happened just before 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of St. Bethlehem on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. Sarai Longhenry's husband told police that on their way to church his wife was driving erratically with him and their daughter in the car. After they attended service, he refused to get into the car with her because of the way she had been driving and they had an argument. As he was walking away, he said she turned the vehicle in his direction and accelerated toward him, hitting the curb in front of him and making him jump back into trees.
