INTRUDER SHOT, KILLED BY COLUMBIA RESIDENT
It's a horrifying thought that someone might break into your home in the middle of the night and attack you. That happened to a woman in Columbia early yesterday. Thomas Moore broke in , attacked a man in the house, and the woman of the house shot the intruder dead. Thomas Moore had a long history of crime, including assault. (No charges were immediately filed.)
Okay, think of someone you know who drinks a lot. Now, think of what they're always talking about. Is it some injury or trauma or wrong from YEARS ago? The former American Idol star got a buzz cut to give moral support to her best friend,35 year-old Summer Holt Miller. Miller's hair would have fallen out from the chemo, so now both girls have had theirs cut off. Pickler and her friend said if seeing their little bald heads compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it.

Online retail giant Amazon is expected to show off a new batch of Kindle devices today. They've set a press release for later this morning to announce its new features. It's expected the new Kindle Fires will include a new basic version, and a new high-end model with a faster processor, camera, physical volume controls and bigger storage.
You won't be seeing double at the Titans game Sunday, there'll be identical twins playing aginst each other, Devin and Jason McCourty (Devin on the atriots' team, Jason plays with the Titans).

The man who wrote some huge pop-country crossover hits has died. Joe South passed away Wednesday at his home in Flowery Branch, Georgia at the age of 72. South, who was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1979, is best known for his hits "Rose Garden," "Games People Play" and "Walk A Mile In My Shoes."
A group claims they hacked into an accounting firm in Franklin Tennessee and stole Mitt Romney's tax records. They threatened to release them unless a payment of one-million "Bitcoins," or online currency, was made by September 28th. The Secret Service and FBI are investigating.

HURRICANE ISAAC REMNANT HITS GULF OF MEXICO
What's left of Hurricane Isaac is still making people in the gulf Coast area miserable. The storm headed south out of Alabama and Mississippi yesterday, and rained some MORE on New Orleans... which just hasn't had a chance to dry out yet.

RED BULL HEIR CHARGED WITH FATAL HIT AND RUN

An heir to the Red Bull energy drink fortune has been arrested for a fatal hit and run in Thailand. The 27 year-old fatally hit a police officer who was on foot, then kept going. Just went home, and had a servant claim he was driving the car at the time. Vorayuth Yoovidhya later admitted he'd been driving, and offered to pay for the funeral. His family is worth more than 5 billion dollars.
DNC MYSTERY GUEST?
Democratic National Convention organizers are apparently ready to counter the Republican National Convention's "mystery guest." CNN says actresses Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington are among the "secretly scheduled" guests that may speak at the DNC this evening. Actor Clint Eastwood was the Republican National Convention's "mystery guest" last week.
COWBOYS BEAT GIANTS
The NFL's season opener saw the Cowboys to a 24-17 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
