CHEATHAM, MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOLS ON LOCKDOWN
All Cheatham County and Montgomery County schools are on lockdown Thursday morning after threatening emails were received by an employee at the Clarksville Police Department.
A spokesperson for the Cheatham County School District told News 2 a string of threatening emails was to the district. No particular school was mentioned in the emails and the lockdown was initiated on the advice of the police department. A police officer has been placed in every school as a precaution.
Police are investigating the origin of the emails.
GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN STILL UNDERWAY
There's apparently no progress on ending the government shutdown. President Obama brought congressional leaders together at the White House yesterday, but no deal.
LAID-OFF VANDY WORKERS PROTEST
We've been dealing with our own local layoffs for awhile, now. People laid off from Vanderbilt Medical Center recently, held a protest outside the hospital yesterday. The hundreds of workers who lost their jobs in July say the cuts were unwarranted and without cause. Vanderbilt says it HAD to cut costs, and will lay off a thousand more workers before January.
CHURCH BUS CRASH IN EAST TENNESSEE
Eight people are dead, and 14 injured after a three-vehicle crash on I-40 east, near Dandridge, Tennessee. Investigators say a tire just blew out on a church bus from North Carolina, and the bus crossed the median, hit a tractor trailer and an SUV. Eight people... killed on the spot.

To everyone who's been saying, all along, "We need to pay great teachers better," Metro says, "You're welcome." Some of Nashville's best teachers have just been given cash bonuses for staying and teaching at some Metro's lowest-performing schools. A total of 100-thousand dollars, split among 17 top teachers.
ARE THOSE PRESCRIPTION DISCOUNT CARDS A SCAM?
Have you gotten those discount Discount prescription cards in the mail yet? They've been mass mailed out, and many people have gotten them. They promise you big discounts on your prescription meds. Well, turns out they're not scams, but many pharmacies won't accept them because the card company has been sending bills to pharmacies who accept them, for as much as 300 dollars per prescription. Experts say if you want discounts, check with your own pharmacy, and they can tell you about all the cards you can apply for, and that the pharmacy can accept.
STARWOOD BOUGHT. AGAIN.
In the past few years the 65 acres off Murfreesboro Pike where Starwood Amphitheatre used to be has been bought and sold, and bought and sold, and now, sold again for 5.5 million dollars in a foreclosure sale. A California company has bought the property. There've been plans in the past few years for the former Starwood Site to become a complex with townhomes and shopping, then maybe an outdoor music venue, though no word yet on what the new owners want to make of it.

Here's why you don't joke about having bombs at the airport: a guy told security officials at the Jacksonville, Florida airport that he had a bomb. The airport was evacuated for hours. He did have some device in his belongings, but it wasn't capable of exploding. So now he's charged with making a false bomb report and making a hoax bomb. Bond at a million dollars.

CASEY KASEM'S KIDS STAGE PROTEST IN FRONT OF HIS L.A. HOME
Until 2004, The Top 40 Countdown with Kasey Kasem was how many of us found out whether our favorite song was a hit. Now Kasem is 81, in advanced stages of Parkinson's Disease.. and there's a big family controversy going on. His children staged a protest at his home in L.A., saying his wife has locked them out of his life for the past 3 months. Jean Kasem responded by calling police to get the family away from the mansion gates.
WOMAN REPELS RAPIST WITH COOKING POT
A Massachusetts woman is my hero! She fought off a would be rapist this week with a cooking pot. The guy jumped her, and she beat the poo poo out of him with that pan. He ran, and cops found him later, bloody, beaten and banged up.

BUDDHA CAT UPDATE
And if you've been following the story of Buddha Cat, the poor kitty who was turned in to Metro Animal Control when his owner died, and weighed more than 31 pounds. Well, he's making progress. Buddha has gone from barely able to walk, to walking twice a day on his underwater treadmill, he's lost 5 pounds, which is a LOT for his size, and the company that's doing the treadmill rehab says it's going to waive the fees for the rest of his weight loss therapy.
SPY NOVEL AUTHOR TOM CLANCY DIES
The spy novel world has lost one of its best. Author Tom Clancy has passed away. He was 66. (Clancy's action novels have provided the basis for films like the Hunt for Red October and the best-selling video series Rainbow 6.)
There are so many government workers in Washington that the laid-off population is quite large. Some companies are trying to keep their regular customers, and get new ones, of course, by offering them "furlough freebies." Free food, coffe, oil changes. Hyndai is telling laid off government workers they don't have to make their car payments till they're getting paid again.
FUNNY WAY TO ANNOUNCE PREGNANCY... USING SPAGHETTI SAUCE
What's the funniest way you've heard someone break the news about a pregnancy? The one that's making the rounds now is an NFL football player and his wife, who tweeted a photo of themselves eating spaghetti... her with noodles him and his woman, eating spaghetti, and a jar of PREGO spaghetti sauce on the table between them. Over the name "Prego" they've added a piece of paper that says, "we're." She has spaghetti in her mouth, he looks stunned! Very cute.
MAN ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS HIMSELF AT ANTIOCH WALMART
A man has been sent to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself at the Walmart in Antioch. He was apparently at the checkout and somehow his concealed weapon went off, shooting the guy in the leg.

That woman we told you about who quit her job by releasing a video set to the Kanye West song "Gone"… has already started a string of parodies.. including one from her co-workers. Marina Shifrin had said in her video that the job put an incredible strain on her time and her relationships. Her colleagues video doesn't seem to show a lot of sympathy for her, although they do wish her well and use their viral video to say they still have access to the rooftop pool and sauna, and that the company is now hiring.
SPOTIFY SONG SALES JUMP 9000 PERCENT AFTER BREAKING BAD FEATURE
As if you needed any more confirmation of the grip Breaking Bad held on pop culture right up to its finale. Spotify tells Business Insider that global streams of Badfinger's song "Baby Blue," which was featured in the show's climactic episode, rose by 9000 percent after the credits rolled. And it wasn't just streaming that jumped. Billboard reports it looks like the song is headed for a 3,000 percent sales increase this week. It already sold more than 5,000 downloads in one night.
