HOUSE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MEET OVER VA PROBLEMS
Members of the House Veterans Affairs Committee meet today to figure out what's going on and what to do about the growing problems with the
Veterans Administration. There are serious issues with patient care at VA health clinics in Arizona and Colorado, and dozens of veterans may
have died while waiting for appointments to be set at the VA clinic in Phoenix.... and paperwork falsified to hide the fact.
 
TEACHER PULLS POCKET KNIFE IN CLASS
A Rutherford County teacher, Preston Johnson, was suspended for a day without pay, for pulling out a pocket knife in class. Investigators say
Johnson and some students were goofing around and Johnson just made a poor choice in an attempt at humor, by pulling out the knife. They say
he was not near any student when he did it, and that he didn't threaten any of them with it.
 
CLAY AIKEN BALLOTS STILL BEING COUNTED
Former "American Idol" finalist Clay Aiken may --- or may not be --- the Democratic nominee in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.
They're still counting ballots, and so far it's too close to call between Aiken and his competitor, Keith Crisco.

ACROBATS RECOVERING
The recovery process for a group of acrobats injured in Sunday's circus performance in Providence, Rhode Island is going to take many months.
Two of the female acrobats suffered severe spinal cord injuries. Doctors say it may be a year or more before they know if they'll ever walk again.
A total of eight women were hospitalized when the group fell about 30 feet.

A former poll worker is filing a whistleblower lawsuit. Rollow Mickle says he worked for the Davidson County Election Commission for more than
twenty years, but was fired in January after he pointed out several problems he said could jeopardize the integrity of the electoral process...
including failure to accurately maintain voters' permanent records, failure to ensure all voters are U.S. citizens, failure to train and supervise
temporary employees who do most of the data entry during elections, letting people vote more than once and letting felons vote. The Election
Commission isn't commenting.
 
FDA: DON'T TAKE ASPIRIN TO PREVENT FIRST HEART ATTACK
People who've never had a heart attack should not take aspirin to prevent one.  The Food and Drug Administration issued that guideline this
week, saying using aspirin daily can raise a healthy person's risk for bleeding in the stomach and brain. The FDA made the announcement in
ruling that drug maker Bayer can NOT market aspirin for heart attack PREVENTION in people who don't have heart disease.
 
STUDY: COFFEE MAY HELP YOUR SIGHT

cases, including those where children die or are seriously injured, after they've been added to the DCS caseload.
 
MICHAEL JORDAN SAYS HE WAS RACIST
Michael Jordan's new biography is out, and has some surprises. For example, the NBA legend says he was a racist. He didn't like ANY white
people because he grew up in an area of North Carolina where black people were discriminated against and where the Ku Klux Klan had a large
presence. Jordan says he's NOT, now. His new biography is called "Michael Jordan: The Life."
 
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK REPORTEDLY HAS THIRD SEASON PLANNED
Season 2 of the Netflix series "Orange is the New Black" won't even go up online till next month, but star Laura Prepon says yes, there will be a
season 3.
 
FORMER NASHVILLE NURSE ARRESTED FOR STEALING FROM HOSPITAL

A former Nashville nurse has been arrested for going into St. Thomas Midtown hospital, where she used to work, stealing a credit card from
another nurse, and using it to go buy alcohol. She's already living in a halfway house, in recovery from alcoholism. You may have seen Jennifer
Davis on the news a couple of years ago, as she drove, drunk, fleeing from police with her toddler in the back seat. The Williamson County
district attorney said her recent arrest violates the terms of her probation.
 
PILOT RUNS OUT OF FUEL, CRASHES PLANE IN TENNESSEE
A 62-year-old pilot from Ohio is in critical condition after crashing his plane in West Tennessee yesterday around 1pm. Officials say Kent Wingate
ran out of fuel, and went down.The NTSB is investigating.
