CRUISE SHIP COMES TO SHORE TODAY
There are 42 hundred people who will be wanting to kiss the ground when the disabled Carnival cruise ship Triumph gets to land in Alabama this afternoon. They're being pulled to shore after an engine room fire left the ship dead-in-the-water last Sunday. Passengers have reported sewage sloshing around in hallways, flooded rooms and trouble getting enough to eat.
OLYMPIC ATHLETE ARRESTED IN GIRLFRIEND'S DEATH
Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius, who became famous as the 'Blade Runner' because of the blade-type prosthetics he used for feet when he competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend... model Reeva Steenkamp. She was shot to death inside Pistorius' home in South Africa. He's asked for bail, but been denied, since the police say there've been 'incidents' at the home before. (It was first reported that he may have thought she was an intruder. )
STATE FAIR ASSOCIATION APPROVES LEASE TERMS FOR ANOTHER YEAR
The Tennessee State Fair Association has approved lease terms that “meet and exceed” those of a final offer from Metro, meaning if the fair board approves the terms later this month... we could have a deal for three more years at the fairgrounds. The TSFA board also voted to propose that the new lease be a three-year agreement. If that’s agreed-upon, then the Fair Association would invest 25% of its net profit each year for those three years for fairgrounds facility improvements.
CONSUMER GROUP WANTS FDA TO REQUIRE LOWER SWEETENERS IN DRINK
A consumer group wants the Food and Drug Administration to MAKE soft drink makers cut the amount of sweeteners in their beverages. The Center for Science in the Public Interest claims the sweeteners are causing high obesity rates and health problems like metabolic syndrome. One 31 year-old mother just died recently... and the coroner blamed her death on the more than 2 GALLONS of Coca Cola she drank every day. She said she was addicted.

MOVEMENT TODAY TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
An unprecedented movement aimed at ending violence against women is making its mark on the world this Valentine's Day. One Billion Rising is already getting love from Samoa, Australia, Bangladesh, the Philippines and other countries. Actress and political activist Jane Fonda says you just rise up and dance in public to participate.

FANS AND ACTORS STAND UP FOR MELISSA MCCARTHY
The backlash continues after the New York Observer’s Rex Reed's critique of the movie "Identity Thief." In it, he says the movie is bad and mocks Melissa McCarthy's weight, calling her "tractor-sized," a "screeching, humongous creep" and a "female hippo." He characterizes the actress’ career, as a study in "being obese and obnoxious with equal success." Melissa is apparently much loved. Her fans, and other actors, are railing against Reed, saying a personal attack on weight is never appropriate in a movie review.
MAN JOKES ABOUT HAVING EXPLOSIVES AT AIRPORT, SUES WHEN HE'S ARRESTED
They tell you not to joke about explosives at an airport. But did 50-year-old Frank Hannibal listen? No.
He was carrying peanut butter that had separated. As TSA agents were looking at it, concerned over the liquid oil, he said to his wife and kids, "They're looking to confiscate my explosives." Not surprisingly, he was arrested and charged with a felony. Now he's suing TSA for five million dollars, saying he was only joking.
BULLIED SUMNER COUNTY BOY MUST RETURN TO SCHOOL
A 13 year old Sumner County boy has until tomorrow to return to class or he'll have to go to juvenile court. Bryson Wood's parents say they're keeping him out because he's being bullied at Joseph E. Shafer Middle School... and he's not safe there.

Lady Gaga is cancelling the rest of her tour, including her March 10th show here in Nashville. The singer says she has a tear in her right hip that will need surgery. Just contact your ticket seller for a refund.
GANGNAM STYLE, MOVE OVER FOR THE "HARLEM SHAKE"
Move over, Gangnum Style. The new viral dance craze is the "Harlem Shake! "
It starts with one person dancing, wearing a helmet, and no one else in the video paying attention to him. Then the video jump-cuts to a scene with everybody dancing like crazy, sometimes with costumes and props. Now people all over are doing their own "Harlem Shake" videos: families, firefighters, schools, offices. It's racked up tens of millions of hits in just the past couple of weeks.
ROBIN ROBERTS BACK FEB 20TH
Robin Roberts says she's coming back to Good Morning America next Wednesday. She says there was a time, right after her bone marrow transplant, when she thought she wasn't going to make it. She had myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood disorder, caused by treatment for breast cancer. The 52 year-old said, "I couldn't eat or drink," "I couldn't even get out of bed." "I was in a coma-like state. I truly felt I was slipping away... then I kept hearing my name." she added. After five months convalescing and fending off potential complications, Robin now says she's finally feeling back to normal. "It's an amazing feeling, each day feeling stronger," she said. Following a "dry run" at work in January, Roberts announced last week that she will return to GMA officially on Feb. 20. (Eonline)
MERGER BETWEEN AMERICAN AIRLINES AND US AIRWAYS
A major merger between American Airlines and US Airways is expected to be announced today. The boards of AMR Corp and US Airways Group met separately Wednesday. The merger would create the world's biggest carrier.
COP KILLER THOUGHT TO BE THE ONE IN THE BURNED-OUT CABIN
Accused Southern California cop killer Christopher Dorner is believed to have died in a cabin fire in Big Bear Lake. San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon says he still can't positively say the remains found in the cabin are indeed Dorner's but he expects forensics results in the coming days to confirm it.
ARTS AT THE AIRPORT: NANCY CARTOONS UP THROUGH NEXT YEAR...
More than 60 original pen and ink cartoons of the famed comic strip Nancy by artist Guy Gilchrist ... who loves in Gallatin, Tennessee.... will be on display in the Concourse C Food and Retail Court at Nashville International Airport, from Feb. 13, 2013, through January 2014. The "Nancy Loves Nashville" exhibit celebrates Nancy and the things she loves - especially fun, friends and music. Most of the cartoons are from the artist's private collection. The exhibit is part of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority's (MNAA) Arts at the Airport program. Guy's work is included in the Smithsonian Institute.
