DR. RAEFSKY KILLED IN CAR CRASH, 20-YEAR-OLD CHARGED WITH FAILING TO YIELD
A LOT of people are hurting this morning over the death of oncologist Eric Raefsky of Hermitage. Dr. Raefsky helped thousands of local people through cancer. Some, including one of my friends, he helped survive cancer several times. He became like family. Police say Dr. Raefsky was killed by a young man who was impaired by drugs and alcohol. 20-year-old Clayton Rogers is facing criminal charges for failing to yield at a traffic light on South Mt. Juliet Road.

POLLS OPEN TODAY FOR STATE AND FEDERAL PRIMARIES
Okay, even though I'm telling you about it now, you're going to get busy and forget about it, and wonder, when you get near a church or school, "What's all this traffic about?" It's election day. People will be voting. Today is election day for the State and Federal Republican and Democratic Primaries. Polls are open 7 to 7, and you'll need your voter card and photo I.D. If you're not sure where to vote, it should be on your card, or go to www.findwhereivote.nashville.gov

HEALTH: EBOLA OUTBREAK RECEIVES HIGHEST CDC ALERT 
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is listing the Ebola outbreak as a Level 1 threat, which means it's considered among the most dangerous public health emergencies. It's killed close to a thousand people in Africa, and there are at least two people being treated for it at a hospital in Atlanta. Ebola is controllable in countries like America, where we have a strong public health infrastructure, with lots of barriers.

ADULTS 40-PLUS EMBRACING ONLINE DATING
Uh-oh, watch out! These days when you get online to find a match, you may run across a profile that looks familiar: your parents or your grandparents on there, trolling around, too. A new survey finds as older adults get more tech savvy and less self-conscious about online dating, they're using dating sites more and meeting new partners online.  

WEIRD AL FANS PETITION FOR SUPERBOWL HALFTIME SHOW 
Fans of Weird Al Yankovic are banding together to try and convince the powers that be, that he sould be the star of the next Superbowl Halftime show! There's a petition on www.Change.org, and about 20-thousand people have signed up to support the push, so far.
Weird Al's latest album "Mandatory Fun" became his first ever to reach number one on Billboard's album charts, and was the first comedy album to reach the top of the charts since 1963.

SPRINGFIELD MAN BUSTED FOR 70 GRAND HOT CHECKS
A Springfield, Tennessee man got busted by the TBI for writing 70 thousand dollars in bad checks. Apparently 52 year old Jimmy Chambers REALLY wanted a boat. He wrote three hot checks to get the boat, but when C&O Marine wasn't able to cash the checks ... because there was not enough money in the account.... they called the cops. The  TBI arrested Chambers at his home in Springfield, yesterday. He's bonded out of jail right now.  I know. I wonder, if he wrote a check for bail, too.

PRESIDENT TO SIGN VA REFORM BILL
President Obama signs legislation today to reform the Veterans Affairs Department.  The measure gives many vets the option of seeking private healthcare.  It provides funding to expand VA facilities and hire more doctors and nurses. 

STUDY: LOW VITAMIN D LEVEL MAY INCREASE DEMENTIA RISK 
If your doctor has told you you'r enot getting enough Vitamin D, take it seriously. It not only helps build strong bones, helps your body absorb iron but also a new British study shows not getting enough vitamin D could double the risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

COMMUTERS PUSH TRAIN TO RESCUE TRAPPED MAN
Have you seen that crazy awesome photo of the commuters who helped rescue a guy whose foot got stuck? The man stepped off the train, and his foot slipped into the gap between the train and the sidewalk, and got stuck! Dozens of people got off of the train and then worked together to push the ENTIRE train,  just enough that the guy could get his foot out. It was caught on camera. LEVAR BURTON NAMED "GEEK-OF-THE-YEAR"
And Geek of the Year award goes to... No, it's a real award. The Geekie Awards are handed out online. And LeVar Burton wins the Geek of the Year award for his campaign to resurrect "Reading Rainbow." Good job, Geordi Laforge! ( They're online August 17th. )

MAN BUYS 23 BURGER KING PIES TO SPITE RUDE WOMAN 
This is one of those "You decide," stories. Is this guy: GENIUS OR JERKY? 
So, a guy is in line at a Burger King. Says the woman behind him just let her child keep yelling about the little pie he wanted... non-stop. Yelling. Yelling. Yelling about that pie. Mom didn't stop him because she was busy, talking loudly on her cellphone. So .. the guy gets to the counter, and says, "I want every pie you have in the place." Bought 23 of them. As he left, he says he looked back to see the clerk tell the woman .. who had FINALLY put down the phone... there were no more pies left. He says he just smiled, pulled out a pie and started eating it as he walked away.

MILEY CYRUS CONCERT TONIGHT
Miley Cyrus brings her Bangerz tour to Bridgestone arena tonight. This is the makeup date for the concert that was supposed to happen earlier this year.
