Be ready for some rough weather today in some areas, locally. There's a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until Noon for Middle Tennessee -- mostly the northern part of the state -- so it may pass us by here in Nashville.

PHOENIX HOSTS PREDS ON FRIDAY
The Nashville Predators open Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Coyotes Friday night in Phoenix. Game two is also in Arizona on Sunday. Games three and four will be next week in Nashville.
FRANKLIN MAIN STREET FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND
The Franklin Main Street Festival is this weekend: 10 to 7 on Saturday and Noon to 6 on Sunday. There are also family activities, shopping, non-stop music, and more than 20 food vendors. MAN TRIES TO LURE CHILDREN INTO TRUCK WITH STRAWBERRIES
Police are looking for a man who kids say tried to lure them into his truck... by offering them strawberries. The incident happened in Wartrace, about 60 miles east of Nashville. Bedford County deputies are looking for an older man with gray hair, driving a red pickup.
HOUSE VOTES TO REQUIRE OLDER KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS
Some kids in Tennessee are just not ready for kindergarten ... and our state lawmakers are working on a bill to require children to be 5 years old by September 30th ... before they can start kindergarten, or 4 year-olds could qualify by passing a maturity test. The House has passed it, the Senate is working on its version.
GOVERNOR SIGNS SAGGY PANTS BILL
A proposal that would prohibit students from dressing in an "indecent manner" at school ... including the baggy pants look... has been signed into law by the governor. The legislation prohibits students from exposing "underwear or body parts in a manner that disrupts the learning environment.
STATE EMPLOYEES ACCUSED OF DRUG SALES IN WORKPLACE
Six state employees are out of work after being caught selling, sharing or buying prescription drugs from each other in state buildings. They got caught because they used state email to make their drug deals, calling the pills "candy." One woman e-mailed her boyfriend that she was, "selling to all the junkies up here." The six either resigned or were fired, and the TBI is investigating.

MID TN. COUNTIES GET LOW AIR QUALITY GRADES
The American Lung Association says we're not doing well at keeping our air clean. It's annual report gave Rutherford County a "B" grade, while Davidson and Williamson Counties got "Cs", and Sumner County failed altogether for its 15 days of "Orange" alerts, or dangerous levels of air pollution between 2008 and 2010.
VIOLENCE AGES CHILDREN'S DNA
A new study suggests that when kids are exposed to violence, it damages their DNA, causing changes equivalent to 7 to 10 years of premature aging. The researchers say those kids are then at risk of having age-related illnesses, such as heart attack or memory loss, earlier than their peers. The research is published in "Molecular Psychiatry."
GAS PRICES CAUSING PEOPLE TO CONSIDER NEW VEHICLES
With gas prices so high, a new poll finds about 75% of us are looking for a different car: something smaller and more fuel efficient, or a hybrid. And, most of the drivers polled said they change driving habits and vacation plans when gas prices get near 4 dollars a gallon.
RAPID TRANSIT BUS PLANNED FOR MURFREESBORO PIKE
Murfreesboro is moving ahead with a Rapid Bus transit system that'll be up and running by next spring. It would have fewer stops than a traditional bus system, and extras like covered bus stops. Metro Transit Authority has a such a system in place already, on Gallatin Pike in East Nashville.
FINE FOR FRIVOLOUS LAWSUITS PASSES HOUSE
There's a bill working through the legislature that'd give a judge power to fine someone ten-thousand-dollars plus attorney's fees, for filing a frivolous lawsuit. It still needs Senate approval.
COUNTRY STAR GEORGE JONES MAKES FAMILY FEUD PUBLIC
80 year old George Jones posted a message on his website this week thanking fans for their prayers and support as he recovers from an upper respiratory infection... and then accusing his daughter Georgette Lennon of spreading lies about him on the Internet. He said "None of these things are true. They are all about money." Lennon's mother was country singer Tammy Wynette, who died in 1998.
