WINNING POWERBALL TICKET SOLD IN NASHVILLE

Lottery officials are waiting for the person holding a winning Million dollar Powerball lottery ticket to come forward and claim the cash. The ticket for Saturday night's drawing was sold in Nashville, though no word yet on exactly where. Wednesday's Powerball Jackpot is now up to 151-million.


THREE PEOPLE ARRESTED IN NIGHTCLUB FIRE IN BRAZIL THAT KILLS 233
A city in southern Brazil is getting ready for 233 funerals of young people who died in a club fire this weekend, that was apparently triggered by a band's pyrotechnics display. Security guards briefly prevented partygoers from leaving through the one exit, and so many bodies ended up falling near the door that it slowed down firefighters who were trying to get in.  Many of the victims were college students, under 20 years old, some even younger.

 

POLICE EVACUATED ROCKETOWN YOUTH CENTER
Police are investigating a bomb threat at Rocketown. Dozens of kids were inside the Youth Center yesterday when someone reportedly threatened on Facebook to blow up the building. Police evacuated everyone... but didn't find any explosive devices. (It's not yet known if yesterday's threat is related to last week's incident in which a former Rocketown employee criticized management on Twitter for allegedly firing him for wearing a t-shirt supporting same-sex marriage.)


TITANS REPORTEDLY IN TALKS TO HIRE GREGG WILLIAMS
The Tennessee Titans are talking to suspended defensive coordinator Gregg Williams about hiring him for the team's coaching staff. Williams previously worked for New Orleans and St. Louis before being indefinitely suspended for his role in the Saints bounty program. (Titans coach Mike Munchack has talked to Williams about hiring him for the team's coaching staff.)

 

SURVEY: CORPORATE ECONOMISTS LOOK OPTIMISTICALLY AT U.S. ECONOMY
Hey, good news! More people who follow such things say we're on an economic upswing. Corporate economists (about 50% of those asked) are now saying the U.S. economy will grow this year, and more than a third expect hiring to increase as well.  

 

HEALTH: BREAST CANCER VICTIMS MAY NOT NEED MASTECTOMY
For some women with early stage breast cancer, removal surgery may not be the best option.
A new study out of Duke found women who just had lumpectomies, were nearly 20% less likely to die for any reason over the next nine years than mastectomy patients.


SOUTHWEST'S EARLY BOARDING FEE STARTS 
If you just hate waiting to board your flight, then having to squeeze past all those people who are already seated to get whatever's left, Southwest Airlines has started its early-boarding option. You pay 40 dollars extra, and you're guaranteed to be among the first 15 people on the plane. Southwest doesn't have assigned seating, so that means you get to -- yes, I'm gonna say it -- you get to pick your seat.

IS AMERICAN IDOL RACIST?
Is American Idol racist? Nine former African-American contenders have banded together for a potential lawsuit against the show. All of them were disqualified from the program for failing to disclose prior arrests, but their attorney says it's because they're black.

PRESIDENT OBAMA MULLS SYRIA ACTION
President Obama is under pressure to do something in Syria... but he says he's got to decide whether U.S. military action would help bring the deadly conflict to an end or just make things worse. He has to also weigh the fact that our Defense Department is working on supporting troops in Afghanistan. 


STUDY: MANY KEEP TRACK OF THEIR HEALTH WITH THEIR HEAD
You wanna be healthier, thinner and less stressed? A new study shows the one change you could make is to keep a WRITTEN record of things, including your food, meds, doctors' appointments. Studies show people even dieters lose more if they write down their food and exercise ... but only half of us do. Researchers say that's an opportunity for someone... to come up with a way to make it as easy to keep up with our own medical information as it is to get on Facebook, or other social networks. (The study was released by the Pew Research Center in Washington, DC.)


FACEBOOK, MAKING WISHES COME TRUE!
But don't get too carried away with what you're sharing online! In Arizona, Amy McClenathan found out, the hard way, that Facebook can make wishes come true. She says she was having a bad day and posted online , "I wish I could get fired some days, it would be easier to be at home than to have to go through this." Her supervisor at work saw the post, and granted Amy's wish. She was fired the next day. Now, since she's gotten such bad press, she claims she can't find a job. Her advice: "Don't put it on social media. It never goes away."  (Arizona Family)

PRESIDENT DOES INTERVIEW WITH HILLARY CLINTON
President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton talk about her years in the administration on CBS "60 Minutes."  In the interview that aired Sunday night, Mrs. Clinton dodged questions about whether she would run for president in 2016 but stressed that both she and Obama "care deeply about what's going to happen to our country in the future."


BURT REYNOLDS' CONDITION IMPROVING
Hollywood movie vet Burt Reynolds was hospitalized in Florida for the flu. The "Smokey and the Bandit" star was in the ICU for awhile, but may get to go home today.


CROOKS PICK WRONG ROOM TO ROB
Two young guys burst into the Regents Park Sporting Club, a popular bar in Sydney, Australia… they had machetes and were ready to rob the place. Instead, they looked around to see they'd busted into the middle of a meeting. Of a biker gang. The masked bandits tried to run, one even jumped off a 16-foot balcony to try and get away. But the bikers caught them both, and kindly held the guys until police got there. (AHN News)
