SCHOOLS OPENING LATE
If you live anywhere near water, it'll be flowing a little faster and higher after all this rain we've gotten in the past couple of days: between 2 and 4 inches, depending on where you live. It's also causing some schools to open late, including Clarksville-Montgomery Co. Schools Opening 2 hours late, Dickson County Schools are opening 2 hours late but bus Drivers need to use their own discretion in deciding what roads to drive on to pick up the kids, and Robertson Co. Schools are opening 2 hours late. You can always find the school closings under the NEWS tab at www.mix929.com    

FLU OUTBREAK WORST ON EAST COAST 
The flu is now considered an epidemic in most of the country, including Middle Tennessee. It's hitting hardest in the Northeast. More than seven-thousand people came in for flu shots in the Boston area just this weekend, and they've had more than 750 confirmed cases of flu this season, compared to 70 at this time a year ago.
In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a flu emergency after more than 19 thousand confirmed cases. If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, it's not too late. And keep in mind if you do get the flu, if you can get to the doctor for some tamiflu in the first couple of days it can greatly reduce your flu symptoms. 

GOLDEN GLOBES WINNERS
This year's Golden Globes Best Motion Picture award for a drama goes to the movie "Argo."  The movie's director Ben Affleck won the Best Director trophy, which is an honor he isn't even nominated for at the upcoming Academy Awards.  "Les Misérables" [[ lay miz-er-ahb ]] won the award for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.

PREDATORS OPEN SHORTENED SEASON WITH 2 HOME GAMES
The Preds are back. The Nashville Predators will finally get to open their season this Saturday. 

TENNESSEE TITANS' KENNY BRITT SOUGHT BY NJ POLICE FOR QUESTIONING
Cops in New Jersey want to talk to Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt... about what happened that resulted in his brother being stabbed Saturday night.  Britt dropped off his brother at a hospital, but wouldn't tell officers what happened.

V.A. HOSPITAL MAY HAVE EXPOSED VETS TO HIV
The V.A. hospital in Buffalo, New York is reaching out to the nearly 600 veterans treated between 2010 and 2012 to let them know they may have accidentally been exposed to HIV and Hepatitis.  Hospital employees were not labeling insulin pens and may have used the same pens on multiple people.

"ZERO DARK THIRTY" RACKS UP BIG NUMBERS AT BOX OFFICE
"Zero Dark Thirty" the movie about the hunt for Osama bin Laden was the most-watched movie at theaters this weekened. Next was Tyler Perry's, "A Haunted House," then "Gangster Squad," in third place.
