WEIRD DETAILS COMING OUT ABOUT CALIF KIDNAP SUSPECT
There are some WEIRD details coming out about James Lee DiMaggio, the man who allegedly kidnapped 16-year-old Hannah Anderson after killing her mother and younger brother last week. DiMaggio was killed Saturday by an FBI agent, as they rescued the teenager. Now, word comes out that DiMaggio's FATHER also died on August 10th,  15 years ago. He committed suicide after holding a 16 year old girl hostage. She escaped out a bathroom window. Meanwhile, the teenager in the current kidnap case, Hannah Anderson, has been reunited with her father.

SINKHOLE IN FLORIDA
Officials are trying to figure out what to do about a 60-foot-wide, fifteen-foot-deep sinkhole that opened up beneath a resort about 10 minutes from Walt Disney World in central Florida. One building has collapsed and another is still sinking... as the sinkhole continues to get larger. 35 people were evacuated, no one was hurt. 

DID JUDGE DO THE RIGHT THING IN CHANGING BABY'S NAME FROM MESSIAH?
Did a judge in Tennesee overstep her bounds when she changed a 7-month-old boy's name to Martin from Messiah? Her honor said the religious name was earned by one person and "that one person is Jesus Christ."  The boy's parents were in court because they couldn't decide on a LAST name, but when the judge heard the kid's FIRST name was Messiah.. she ordered the parents to change that, too. The boy's mom says she'll appeal. 

DRUGS, 81 SYRINGES FOUND IN BABYSITTER'S HOME
Here's why you check out the person you trust your child's life with: a 26 year-old Nashville woman was caught with heroine, crack cocaine and 81 syringes in the home where she was babysitting a 2 year old boy for another woman. Some of the uncapped syringes were already loaded with heroin and within arm's reach of the toddler. His mom got the call from police to come get her son and said she had no idea all that was going on at the home.

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER NEXT TWO NIGHT, CALLED BEST OF THE YEAR
If you can find a patch of clear sky tonight, it's the last of the peak nights to see the Perseid Meteor Shower. You can stay up late or get up early, since the peak viewing times are between 10:30 tonight and 4:30 tomorrow morning.

VANDERBILT FOOTBALL PLAYERS CHARGED
All four of the former Vanderbilt football players accused of raping an unconscious student have surrendered to police. Police say the men sexually assaulted the girl on June 23rd. It wasn't reported until Vandy university officials -- who were looking into a completely unrelated incident -- saw "concerning behavior" on the dorm's surveillance video. Cops say others may have been involved in the crime and are looking at photos someone took. Vandenburg was also charged with one count of unlawful photography and tampering with evidence.

SOUTH NASHVILLE ALL-STARS GOING TO WORLD SERIES
For the second year in a row, we've got a local team in the Little League World Series. Last year, Goodlettsville took home the U.S. Championship and only missed winning the Little League World Series by one game. This year the South Nashville All Stars are headed that way. They won the Southeast Regional Tournament, and and now compete for the U.S. Championship, starting Thursday night.

SWEDISH POLICE WARN TOURISTS ABOUT GHOST PICKPOCKETS
This is a new take on an old scam: thieves dressing up like ghosts, and offering to pose for pictures with tourists... while someone's snapping the photo, the ghosts are lifting the tourist's purse or wallet. Just a reminder to be careful wherever you go on vacation.

Scientists say they're working on a laser test that examines your skin, and will let them calculate how long you have to live, and also show your tendency for diseases including cancer and dementia. It's still in the development stages, right now.

Organizers of the Missouri State Fair are doing some explaining today... after someone posted a video on YouTube showing one of its rodeo clowns at the fair wearing an Obama mask, and the rodeo announcer asking the crowd if they want to see the President run down by a bull.

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden thinks making Americans more comfortable will make them less safe.  He told CBS' "Face the Nation" President Obama's vow to make the NSA more transparent could make the agency less effective. 

ATTY GENERAL WANTS CHANGES IN DRUG CRIME PROSECUTION
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will likely give more details today about changes he wants made in the prosecution of certain drug crimes.  He'll be speaking at an American Bar Association meeting in San Francisco.  The aim is to lower the number of convictions that carry inflexible, mandatory minimum sentences.

LOS ANGELES COUNCIL WANTS LAW REQUIRING BB GUNS/ PAINT GUNS/ AIR GUNS PAINTED BRIGHT COLOR
The Los Angeles City Council has ordered the drafting of legislation to require BB guns, pellet guns, and air rifles be painted in bright colors.  The purpose is for cops to be able to distinguish them from more lethal weapons.
