HEALTHCARE.GOV COMMENTS FROM HEARING
Boy wouldn't YOU be in trouble if you worked this way: the Healthcare.gov website was supposed to be ready by October 1st. Clearly it was not. Now, the lead contractor for the site says it should be able to handle heavy traffic by December 15th. In a House hearing about it yesterday, Cheryl Campbell said she has her staff working around the clock to fix the glitches.

NASHVILLE WILL GET A 629 AREA CODE
Nashville IS getting a new area code. It'll be 629, and it'll start with new phone numbers that are issued after we run out of 615 numbers. That means you'll have to dial all ten-digits even for local numbers. It won't affect most of us, who already have all our phone numbers in our contact lists, and we just hit send or the shortcut button.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY
If you have an older person in your family who has a lot of prescription drugs, maybe you'd like to help them clean those out this weekend, so those drugs don't end up in some teenager's hands, or in our water supply. Tomorrow is is "Prescription Drug Take Back Day." You can drop off un-used and outdated prescription drugs, so they can be disposed of properly.

HAPPY ENDING FOR FLORIDA WOMAN CAUGHT SHOPLIFTING
A Florida woman has a new job and a new start, after what could have been a really bad situation for her. Jessica Robles was caught stealing food to feed her children, and the Florida police officer who arrested her, started a pay-it-forward that was life-changing. Instead of hauling the woman to jail, since Robles had NO previous trouble with the law, officer Vickie Thomas wrote up Robles and then bought the family 100 dollars worth of groceries. Robles and her kids went through those bags like little locusts. After hearing about her situation, a local business owner offered Robles an interview, and then a job. Merry Christmas, early!

HARD FREEZE TONIGHT/ SOME PLANTS POISONOUS. POINSON HOTLINE NUMBER JUST IN CASE
If you brought plants indoors to get ready for the freeze last night and the even colder night tonight.... remember that SOME plants are poisonous to pets. NOT, poinsettias, as the urban myths say... but other plants, like peace lilies, are toxic. If you're in doubt, call the poison control hotline 1-800-222-1222.
(Poinsettias are SO NON-toxic, by the way, that experts say a child who weighed 50 lbs. would have to eat over 500 poinsettia leaves to reach an even POTENTIALLY dangerous level of chemicals.)

CAPTAIN AND ENGINEER KIDNAPPED BY PIRATES
And part of the reason that movie about pirates is so popular... is because that sort of thing really happens. There's still no word on the fate of the captain and chief engineer of an American oil supply ship who were kidnapped by pirates off the coast of Nigeria.  The raid on the C Retriever happened Wednesday afternoon in the Gulf of Guinea.  The ship is owned by a marine transport group in Louisiana.

NASHVILLE KMART CLOSING IN JAN.  CLEARANCE SALES START THIS WEEKEND
If you wanna get a jump start on your holiday shopping the Kmart store at 4095 Nolensville Pike in south Nashville starts its liquidation sale this weekend. The store is closing in January after 43 years in that location. Some people are sad to see them go. Many remember when Kmarts were THE stores to go to, for the blue light specials that sent shoppers scurrying across the store to get whatever had just gone on sale below the light, or for grabbing a sandwich at lunch, at the Kmart restaurant. The liquidation sale starts Sunday.

While, below him, a pile of football players.
