PART OF I-40 TO CLOSE THIS WEEKEND
Whatever plans you have for this weekend, don't forget that part of I-40 will be closed! TDOT is closing I-40 all weekend at the I-65 split, and the westbound on-ramps for Demonbreun, Broadway and Church Streets ... Crews will be working on the bridge over Charlotte Avenue downtown. (The closure starts tonight at 9 and wraps up around 5 Monday morning.)

TODAY IS HALLOWEEN, DAY TWO
We get kind of a do-over on Halloween this year! The weather was so bad that by yesterday morning, many communities had made the call to put off their official festivities till tonight. That means some kids went trick-or-treating last night, many more will tonight.

WEATHER AND A FATALITY LAST NIGHT
That call to wait turned out to be a wise one. We had winds gusting up to nearly 50 miles an hour, tornado watches, storms, power outages, and in the middle of all that, a child fatality in Nashville. A 9-year-old boy was killed last night around 9:30 after being shocked by a downed power line near the J.C. Napier Homes.

HALLOWEEN CANDY BUY BACK
And if you have more candy than you do kids, you may want to consider this a teachable moment, and get them to take part in the Halloween Candy Buyback. It's local dentists, buying the candy from you, at about a buck a pound, then the dentists mail the candy to our military members overseas. They get the packages for Christmas, and often send back thank you letters, like this one posted online, that says, "You've done more for our morale than anyone else in the two years I've been deployed." Another says, "Your organization has once again given my men here in Iraq… a touch of home… thank you!" You can go to www.Halloweencandybuyback.com and plug in your zip code to find out what dentist near you is taking part.

TIME CHANGE AND SLEEP
If you run around tired all the time, doctors say the end of Daylight Saving Time could be the start of better sleep for you. They recommend you go to bed Saturday night the same time you would on a weeknight, then pay attention to how great you feel with that extra hour of sleep. Commit to setting a regular bedtime for yourself, and sticking with it, even on weekends.

You're also reminded to change the batteries in your smoke alarms this weekend...

SCHOOL BUS DRIVES OFF BRIDGE AND INTO CREEK
Ten children are safe after a school bus they were on careened into a creek east of Wichita, Kansas yesterday afternoon. Swift water rescue teams responded to the crash, and everybody was pulled to safety.

KRAFT DOING SOMETHING RADICALLY DIFFERENT TO MAC AND CHEESE
Kraft is doing something radically different to its mac and cheese: it's taking out the artificial dyes from three macaroni and cheese varieties that come in shapes targeting kids, like the Spongebob Squarepants shaped macaroni. The change will NOT affect Kraft's elbow-shaped, original macaroni and cheese.

2ND ANNUAL FOOD TRUCK AWARDS TOMORROW NOON TO FIVE CENTENNIAL PARK

GRANDPA NAMES MAKING A COMEBACK!
Now, why do this to a poor little, defenseless baby? Why name him Elmer or Grover? Old-time Grandpa names are making a comeback, according to the Social Security's name list. Names like Clarence, Amos, Ernest and Herman are not the MOST popular, but they're on the rise.

CHOCOLATE-COVERED POTATO CHIP GOING MAINSTREAM

MOM TELLS HER LITTLE BOYS SHE ATE ALL THEIR CANDY: RESPONSE IS GREAT!
The funniest, in my opinion, are the kids at the end of the video, starting at about 3:20.

HEALTH: U.S. PRETERM BIRTH RATES FALL
There are new numbers out, that say we're doing BETTER at preventing premature births in the United States. The 176-thousand fewer babies that have been born too soon... not only mean fewer of them dying or having lifelong health problems, but means a savings of 9 BILLION dollars in healthcare costs.  BUT... the March of Dimes says we still have the highest rate of preterm births of ANY industrialized country.

NEW INVESTIGATION INTO GEORGIA TEEN'S DEATH
There will be a new investigation into the suspicious death of Georgia teenager Kendrick Johnson.  Johnson's body was found in January in a rolled up gym mat at Lowndes High School.  The case was originally ruled an accidental death.

HOW TO ERADICATE BITSTRIPS FROM YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE
If all your Facebook friends seem to be posting Bitstrips, those annoying custom cartoons that have spread like a plague across Facebook news feeds since last week, don't start unfriending people just yet.    There's an easier way to make sure you never have to see a Bitstrips comic on Facebook again: just find one of the offending posts, click the arrow icon in the corner, and select "Hide All From Bitstrips."
Bitstrips, for those who haven't been exposed, is a new Facebook meme that lets users make cartoon avatars of themselves and include thought bubbles and captions. They're usually inside jokes that only a couple of the user's Facebook friends will care about. They're simple, and they've caught on with surprising speed!  The app has been downloaded by more than 11 million people so far, and spreading. So, since Bitstrips may not go away… you can at least SAVE YOURSELF!

SUZANNE SOMERS WANTS THREE'S COMPANY SPINOFF WITH JOHN RITTER'S SON, JASON
Suzanne Somers wants to co-star opposite Jason Ritter, the son of her late "Three's Company" co-star John Ritter, in a "Three's Company" spinoff.
"I said to my husband the other day, 'You know what would make a great sitcom? If Chrissy Snow's son was Jason Ritter!'"  "It would mean that ultimately, Jack [John Ritter's character] and Chrissy got married and they had Jason. It is the first acting idea I've had that has made my heart flutter."
Somers has never met Jason Ritter, but said he's got John's timing. "I think I'm going to throw that out there to him," she said. "Who knows?"
Jason is currently starring in Fox's "Us & Them," a midseason comedy co-starring Alexis Bledel. However, Fox haalready decided to cut the 13 episode-order down to seven, so Jason could have some free time.
